Regional Franchise Development Manager (Current Employee) – Remote assignment NE – October 27, 2017
This firm has suffered mightily from many chronic challenges. This stress has led to wide ranging lay-offs and other troubles. Still hope this enterprise will find its footing and fulfill the promise of its founding value proposition.
Sales Manager (Former Employee) – Riverside, CA – June 7, 2016
Very life changing experience. Good environment to work in. Can make your own schedule. Very organized and helpful system. Every day is something new to learn in every aspect of life and work experience.
Event Coordinator (Former Employee) – Westlake Village, CA – November 11, 2015
I worked at Solar Universe as my very first job so it was rather intimidating. However, everyone was extremely welcoming and helped me learn everything I needed to know. I would get to work and help around the office and set up and work at events like booths to promote the business. The hardest part of the job was learning the technical side of solar and the most enjoyable part was the willingness of the people to help me learn and understand things I didn't know. I got great experience from this job.
Amazing people, great experience, knowledgeable coworkers and management
Not as pleasant of a work experience as I would have liked.......
Inventory and Purchasing (Former Employee) – Livermore, CA (Headquarters) – July 31, 2015
I brought many years of experience to the table. Seems that the management either likes you or they don't, no in between and no support if you falter....I had measurable, positive, changes that I made and it did not factor in at all.
By the time I was "let go due to department restructure" I was paranoid. Manager was giving my work to others while planning my dismissal. Never came to me to discuss any issues. Very much a revolving door.
Now you may really like it if you are part of the clique that takes extended lunches and drinking at lunch....
Watch your back. Make sure to give your name plate to the Ops Mgr when they send you packing. He has a six inch stack of them and thinks it's funny.
Sales Representative (Former Employee) – Fresno, CA – April 27, 2015
good company to work for, but had a couple down-falls. manager doesn't accept average learners and the environment is a little unprofessional. Other than that, crew still gets their jobs done and everyone keeps a smile going.
Pizza if points were earned, play a ball game before work starts, free bottles of water, and training every Monday.
Commissioned Sales (Current Employee) – Brentwood, Ca – January 9, 2015
A typical day require meeting with an install team and installing a roof mounted solar panel system. The A team was a pleasure to work with. The B team not so much. Upper management was great. Working in Attics and on Roofs got to be much more difficult and made the job less desirable. I request a transfer to sales and got it. Found out that I am a terrible sales person.
Some of the crew were great to work with.
Working on roofs and in tight attics. Sales not my cup of tea.
Inside Sales Consultant (Current Employee) – Livermore, CA – August 1, 2013
Calls, Calls and more Calls, was my typical day at work. I learned how to close over the phone without meeting face to face with techniques and training provided. I was able to get along great with my co-workers, just can't take everything personal and focus on the goals. The hardest part of my job was not closing a deal that I had been working months on, it comes with the territory though. The best part of my job was building relationships with people.
Operations Manager (Former Employee) – Manteca, CA – July 22, 2013
Solar Universe is a great company to work for. The team is more like a family that works together to solve problems. I have learned a lot about running an office and team management. The management is goal oriented and is working to produce a high number of solar installations this year.
The team consists of 2 sales men, a design tech, Lead generator, office staff, the operations manager and installation staff. While the staff is pretty small, it is efficient and does a great job all in all.
The hardest thing about the job is the chaos of installations. It is a fast paced environment that changes every day.
I enjoy the clients and their excitement after an install.
