Pros: free lunches, helping customers
Cons: no room for advancement
My typical day consisted of running the store offering great customer service and building a work crew that could help give the great customer service that Sonic is built on.

Fast Food Fun
Cashier/Carhop (Former Employee), Mempshis, Tn – June 17, 2013
Pros: discount on lunch
Cons: no cons
Fast food was pretty cool. I got a chance to make tips of my own. Me being younger while employed there, tips were definitely a plus. My co-workers were fun, managers were great.

Great place to work during High School.
Carhop (Former Employee), Council Bluffs, IA – June 17, 2013
It was a fun fast paced enviornment. Taught me the responsibilities needed for my future jobs. Most enjoyable part was I worked with my high school friends and it gave me the paycheck I needed to help my family.

Enjoyable but time to move on
Carhop / Manager (Current Employee), Walterboro, SC – June 15, 2013
Pros: discounts on food, flexable schedule
Cons: no health or dental insurance, no set hours
Sonic can be fun to work at if you have fellow coworkers that do their jobs. I get along with them all and do my best to stay out of the drama (mainly high schoolers work there). I enjoy carhopping the most. Interacting with the customers and staying busy. I've learned how to count back change at a quick pace and to get orders out under 3 mins. I've – more... also learned how to multi task very quickly. – less

cook and pressure washer (Former Employee), St.marys ga – June 14, 2013
Pros: great co-workers
Cons: no benefits and short raises
Working in fast food enviorment taught me better leadership and people skills, as well as importance of health and safety. Dealing with customers taught me to be very flexible with dealing with different personalities.

Unsafe and Bad Environment
Car Hop (Former Employee), Port Arthur, TX – June 13, 2013
This job is the most unsafe work environment. One of the managers sexually harasses the girls that work there and another manager brings friends into the job who should not be there.

Fun work place
Assistant Manager (Current Employee), Chattanooga, TN – June 13, 2013
I have learned to be assertive, organized, and have learned some of my leadership skills here. Having co-workers that know their job and work, makes my job easier as an assistant manager.

Great job for prospective servers
Car-hop, Switchboard operator (Former Employee), Binghamton, NY – June 13, 2013
I really enjoyed working as a car-hop at sonic for nearly a year and a half. Sometimes I regret leaving because of the winter conditions you face as an outdoor car-hop. Great job for a student or aspiring server as the duties are similar.

Productive and fast speed
Crew Member/ Manager (Former Employee), Beavercreek, OH – June 13, 2013
Pros: comfortable envirorment, and 50% off food.
Cons: new management staff
A typical work day is busy always. I learn something new everyday. Management was good up until they got a whole new staff of management and then they let a few people go and I happened to be one of those few. My co-workers were all friendly to one another. We all got a long, we all knew one another because we had worked about 1 year or more together. – more... The hardest part of the job was keep up on the orders and making sure every customer was satisfied with their service, Speed and quality. The most enjoyable part was working and having fun while working. – less

Cool job to do while you're in high school
Car Hop (Former Employee), San Antonio, TX – June 13, 2013
Pros: friendly and helpful staff
Cons: you work in all types of weather, you have a lot responsibilities for little pay, never had enough staff for dinner and lunch rushes
I worked at sonic my junior and senior year of high school. As a Car Hop you were responsible for answering the swith board, fountain area, bagging food and bring it out to the customers. As well as help maintaing the cleanliness of the restaurant. It can get pretty busy so expect to do a lot of running bcak and fourth. There are so many differnt type – more... of drinks and ice cream combinations to learn but there are papers that they keep around to help you if you forget. You start off with 20 dollars in your changer and make drops through out the day. Be careful because you can easily drop money when youre running. Also during rushes you get people who try to give you fake money. When I worked here I always had money because of the tips that I earned. On a busy night you can easily walk away with 70-80 dollars in tips and that was a 5 hr shift. Overall I liked this job but I quit after I graduated to find a job that paid more money. – less

Productive work environment on roller skates
Skating Carhop (Former Employee), Las Vegas, NV – June 12, 2013
Pros: friendly co-workers, positive environment, fast-paced
Cons: short/no breaks, unable to take off skates, late closing hours
A typical day at work, being on skates the entire time, included: working the cash register, making drinks/shakes/slushies in time with food being made, skating the food out to the correct customer/car on a tray, greeting the customers and giving them a satisfactory experience, reading back their order, collecting/giving back accurate money, checking – more... back with the customer at least once while they're at Sonic, helping co-workers make their orders, train new employees, etc. Due to the fact that Sonic was my first job inside of an actual building, it gave me a feel for what a real fast-food job was like. I learned to be quicker, customer concerned, and a cleanly organized worker. – less

Decent Part-Time Job
Cashier/Cook (Former Employee), Greensboro, NC – June 12, 2013
Pros: fun and helpful co-workers
Cons: understaffed even during busy hours
A typical day as a cashier starts with checking the starting amount in the register and also making sure your station is stocked and ready for your shift. Management was good and bad depending on your shift. most co-workers are helpful and everyone is trained to do everything just in case you need to pick up someone else's slack. hardest part of the – more... job is during busy hours when it becomes painfully obvious that we are understaffed; this in turn reflected poorly on our costumer service. – less

Productive and a fun enviroment
Cook (Former Employee), Hutchinson, KS – June 12, 2013
Pros: brakes
Cons: no free lunches
Daily routine to clock it and make orders while on time i wasn't make orders complete the jobs needed to make it easy for the next shift to do theirs. Communication and my managers were alsome to me and easy to get along with everyone. Hardest part was picking up other slack. I always enjoyed getting off work and eating a banana split on a waem day.
