Its a job not a career
Access control agent (Current Employee), PittsburghApril 29, 2014
Pros: easy work, steady hours
Cons: no benefits, no raises, no room for advancment, unhonest management
I have been working here 9 months. No affordable benefits. They offer benefits but it is 1100 a month for health. Pay is average compared to other security. Management varies by location, mine personally was never there and did a terrible job. Little to no room for advancement. They say they will send you to training if requested but that is a lie. – more... 5 day vacation after a year of work. No raises. corperate Management is very kind, personable, and caring but you rarely see them. It is a security job not a career. – less

My typical day at work is not that hard I go in and make sure that the only people on the property is employees and their family that they allow to come on site. The most enjoyable part of the job is going home after being there for 8 straight hours,

Easy job if its your first full time job or working after retirement
Security Officer (Current Employee), Parsippany, NJNovember 10, 2013
Pros: easy low stress job. no boss breathing down your neck
Cons: hard to get raise, no set schedule when you first start, cant leave for lunch break, people call out you get stuck
lots of sitting around staring at the wall trying to kill time until something that requires your attention finally comes up. call 911 for fire or ambulance is few and far between. look for water leaks when it rains. remember to wear tie cuz when supervisors randomly show up they will yell at you. raises and promotions hard to come by not many ways – more... to climb ladder. keep track of your hours on time sheets the bosses will either forget to give time or try to shave off any overtime you might have done. high turnover rate – less

Cons: no raises, or room for advancement
I worked as a contracted security guard for 10 months. The pay was pretty decent especially considering the very limited responsibilities and duties.
