Professor of Business and Management, Lafayette, LA - May 15, 2016
I love the freedom of conveying lessons the way I want, creating assignments, and influencing students. I also find being an adjunct professor to be quite rewarding, especially seeing students succeed and graduate. I find that the cultures/attitudes amongst faculty to be quite different from campus to campus. I really wish that there were more unity with adjuncts and other faculty and staff. Adjuncts are mostly left out of the loop of things. Nevertheless, I have a high standard of teaching and care about students' learning experience and retention. I find there to be a good work/life balance if one knows how to manage time. If there were job security and professional growth for adjuncts, which, by the way, should be incorporated for those that have experience, (I guess they've got theor people picked) SLCC would be the perfect place to work.
