Intern, Kokomo, IN - March 22, 2016
I'm currently an intern at Southern Care Hospice for my senior field placement practicum hours. I really enjoy hospice patients, and this placement has contributed to my love for providing care, compassion, and social justice to the geriatrics population. I love that Southern Care works as a team toward a common goal of peace for those they serve. I really enjoyed getting to know all members of the team, and learn under my supervisor. A typical day for me consisted of team meetings and home visits to patients. I was able to talk with patients, learn to use their system to enter in patient information, and gather a lot of knowledge in the areas of medicaid, medicare, and the politics of hospice. My only concerns with the agency would be that they are currently going through a lot of transition with staff, and it seems to be making it difficult to be completely on the same page. I have full confidence that the employees at Southern Care will work out the kinks, and learn to thrive in an even more efficient way, with their new team members.
