Run Fast and don’t look back
Field Technician (Former Employee) –  Birmingham, ALNovember 16, 2017
First of all. They will try to convince you that you will get paid “ For up to 24 hours in inclement weather pay”
Not true!!! Example.... If you are off Monday and Tuesday because of inclement weather, and work Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. You get paid for the 3 days you worked... nothing more.
Up to 24 hours means...you will only get paid 24 hours in a week. If you are off Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and work Thursday and Friday. You will only get paid for 24 hours. Two days you worked and one day inclement weather pay. They don’t explain it because they know it turn potential employees away.
Beware of the management in the Birmingham,Alabama are. He is all about what is best for him.
Working alone out in the field sounds great. But you will be micro managed even there. All for 11.50 per hour.
The mileage pay will be scrutinized as well. If you work out of the Birmingham area you will be deducted 40 miles per day. Up to 20 miles each way!!
Beware!!!!

It's a decent company.
Field Service Technician (Current Employee) –  Etna, PAJuly 10, 2017
Work is pretty easy compared to a lot of other jobs, however there were a lot of promises that didn't get upheld. Promised raises after 90 days and didn't get them. Still no raises, overtime has been completely cut. Hard to get your 40 hrs/week if you end up having to miss any days for emergencies. As long as you get some decent numbers no one really says much. You constantly have a carrot being dangled in front of you like most jobs but in this case the carrots made of plastic lies.
Pros
Understanding bosses, as long as you pull some decent weight.
Cons
No overtime, no raises, work in all weather conditions, having to go deep into thick woods

Love my Job
Lead Field Technician (Current Employee) –  Spokane, WAMarch 11, 2017
3 years with the company and have worked in 6 different states. This isn't normally the case but if you are a quality technician and you live where it snows they may give you the traveling option. I love the travel. No day is ever the same. You are always working in new areas although some not glamorous, it beats working indoors everyday. You utilize equipment to detect gas leaks on gas company piping. Lots of walking. All contracts are different so the type or way in which the work is performed varies by area. Most of the management I have worked with has been great. Pay is not the greatest to start but the company is growing exponentially right now so the opportunity for advancement is high. I would have to say this is one good job.
Pros
Travel Per Diem, Unsupervised work, Outdoors, Management

If you think 11.50 is enough and you don't ever want more...
AC field technician (Former Employee) –  Spokane, WAAugust 18, 2016
...then this is the job for you. This employer will even steal your per diem and tell you it's for your own good. They have awesome workers in the field for three years and more who still make $11.50/hr. There's a month's worth of testing and evaluation to endure before you even get to start working. Hope you like strange barking dogs, because you'll get bit at least once during a season. Also, this is seasonal work, so be prepared to find something else in the winter.
Pros
Gets you outdoors
Cons
very low pay, never a pay raise.

Low pay
Technician (Current Employee) –  Washington StateMay 30, 2016
$11.50 starting out per hour is a JOKE for this kind of work. And they don't pay much more than that later.

$20 minimum would be fair.

Managers are poorly trained and treat people badly.
Pros
being outside

UNKNOWN (Former Employee) –  Peachtree Corners, GAMay 26, 2016
Not a good company to work for unless you are well connected with an employee who already works there.

Would not recommend this company to anyone who isn't well connected with an office person.

Was convinced that the company wanted a forward thinker but the people I managed were set in their ways and refused change.
Pros
Clean office
Cons
Not open for change, they do not communicate directly, very much a back stabbing work place
