As an Adjunct Professor one is made to feel lucky to be working at a university, however the low pay and lack of security is very unfortunate. I was overqualified for the work I did with a Master's Degree at a superior school to most other teachers, but I felt a distinct lack of respect for my insight and skills. The management was extremely disorganized and the student's suffered for it. The retrenchment during my stint their enabled them to pay me poorly, offer me jobs a week before they started and allow themselves to not pay any teachers more in cost of living raises.
On an individual level the teachers were great. Most schools have various issues, but SOU had many administrative problems, most largely due to the glut of administrators and lack of oversight.
