Pros: learning environment, fun and exciting

Great place to work but advancement is very minimal, unless someone gets fired or dies.

Productive and family enviorment for employees
Order Puller (Former Employee), Union City, CA – September 11, 2012
Pros: friendly enviorment
Cons: n/a
Days went by fast because there was always work to do and way to learn in the company.I learned how to become a faster puller and become more patient with my work and more accurate. The management took good care of the employees. The hardest part of the job was taking on orders that weren't originally yours and completely them on top of your own. the – more... most enjoyable part of the job was how it felt being around everyone, feeling apart of the family. – less

Too many egos, don't see women as equals
Sales (Former Employee), Twin Cities, Mn – September 5, 2012
Pros: good way to get someplace else
Cons: glass ceiling, no women in upper management.
Seems to be a glass ceiling.
Long hours, no respect, unrealistic quotas pulled out of the sky.
women being sexually harassed and then swept under the rug.
Male management forms an old boy network. Busing bartenders to strip clubs on the company dime.
No respect for the sales team, all ego all the time.
Whole sales team written up for not meeting unrealistic – more... quotas. – less

Designer and Content Coordinator at Southern Wine & Spirits
MULTIMEDIA DESIGNER/CONTENT COORDINATOR (Former Employee), Hayward, CA – August 14, 2012
Pros: excellent benefits, family attitude, and great bonuses.
Cons: if offered i would work there again tomorrow.
As a rule I would unlock and open the building everyday. Schedule recommendations for 7 divisions of web related content for Website and product promotions also web related. Worked at mid-management level with awesome superior management as well a fantastic support staff. The most difficult part of the job was prompting people from 7 different states – more... to contribute their monthly reports. Understandable because the web content position they had been given was new and added on top of already busy schedules.
The best part was the environment and family attitude at the company. I also liked being Santa Claus at the Christmas parties. – less

This is not a typical sales position.
On-Premise Wine Sales Representative (Former Employee), Pensacola, FL – August 14, 2012
Pros: i am at a loss here.
Cons: listed below . sorry to be so negative but it was the worst position i have ever had in sales.
More about account maintenance than actual sales.

750 miles per week on my personal vehicle with no compensation for gas or mileage.

The company may be a great company but the word I would use to review of the local management team would be ineffective.

Commission structure was in constant modification. It took me three months after a promotion to – more... get the percentages the company paid on the products that I was selling.

Sales quotas are deliberately vague.

My first annual review after being up 15% in my territory was given by my manager, that while required to do so weekly, had never ridden with me. – less

Enjoyable Work Life
Merchandiser (Current Employee), Rochester, NY – June 24, 2012
Southern Wine and Spirits has given me the opportunity to grow as a professional in the alcoholic beverage industry. They have treated me well, considering I am a seasonal employee. I have learned much about marketing and sales as a whole; and I expect that I will continue to use this knowledge to my advantage as I begin a career in whatever I choose – more... to do. – less

Great Company to work for
Spirit Specialist (Current Employee), Hilton Head SC – May 8, 2012
Pros: flexible schedule
Cons: management style
This company is great to work for. Management is lacking in this state and overall structure of the state guidelines are not easy to work with in this type of industry. Co-workers are great. I enjoy the freedom to create my own schedule.

It was a fun working atmosphere
Marketing Coordinator (Former Employee), Tampa, Fl – May 4, 2012
Pros: plenty of business lunches at great restaurants.
Cons: co-workers were not so nice, women can be so catty!
In my 10 years experience with this company; there were long working days also some off campus events such as wine tastings. I found it difficult to advance within the company but overall the most fun I've ever had at a job. Management was made up of a lot of great bosses. The company was still growing at the time in leaps and bounds. It was a fun place – more... to work. – less
