Working at Southwest Airlines

  • Brendon 3 days ago
I had a one on one interview today for the ramp agent position. I had the phone interview last week and was offered the one on one interview on the spot. This time she said they have more interviews for the next two days and they'll let me know by next week, 2 weeks the latest. I am nervous as hell.what's going to happen? What's considered a excellent driving record? Does me not having any experience working as a amp agent affect my chances a lot? I also have a reference with someone that works there for a long time how much does that help? I appreciate the help

Hi, I was wondering if anyone can advise me on searching for a job as a reservationist/customer service. Or a call center for SW Airlines.

I need some honest answers...I a f2f interview coming up with SW this week for a CSA position...A flight attendant friend of mine referred me as a FA recently and was apparently told that I would be called soon. Now then he went on to say that if i went through with the customer service interview, I would have no chance of being hired on as a FA. Because they will think me interviewing for CSA means I want to do that for life as oppose to flight attendant which I would much rather do. Is this true? Any advice? I really want to be a FA for SW, but I also want to get in with the company somehow....

I recently had a phone interview for the part time CSA position in Chicago. The next day i was contacted to schedule a f2f interview on Monday! I am beyond excited! I just had a few questions for those who have possibly gone through the process or are current SW CSA's...What should I expect from that F2F? What should I wear? I always see the agents dressed causally but I obviously don't want to go into an interview causal...Is the suit and tie the way to go? Also, as far as duties for a CSA what will those be? Is it just ticket counter or do they work the gates as well? Finally, I am a senior in college. I attend school 2 nights per week. What are the chances of having a school schedule for those two nights and still being able to do this job? Is it hard? I figure it may not be so bad as the position is only part time. Any help would be great!

Hello all! I am currently a High School Senior and am graduating may 31st (SO EXCITED). I was just wondering if any of you could answer a couple of questions that I have about getting into Southwest!! 1) When a job posts up and says "interviewing local candidates only" I understand what they means but what I dont understand is when is says something like "Southwest Airlines will accept your job bid for the Baltimore Inflight Supervisor I position only if you are currently a resident of Maryland or can provide established residency in the state of Maryland." what I am confused on is can I still apply if I live in Michigan assuming that is only says the above state and not the "interviewing local candidates only"??? I am willing to move to where the job would be at then I plan on doing a transfer to Orlando and start my flight training to be a pilot!! (HMMM WHAT AIRLINE DO I WANT TO WORK FOR????) LOL 2) Also could I start applying for jobs now because I am less that 1 month away from getting my High School Diploma. 3) Is there any tips that you can give me on the interview. I am very nervious about the interview aspect of it because I have only had 2 jobs 1 at McDonalds and another at a local resturant that my former boss from McDonalds had bought, so I havnt really been to any real interviews. I know 1 thing that I am reading is to be myself and I plan on doing that :). 4) Also besides just being myself can you offer any advice on how to get NOTICED through the 800 others trying to apply!! Thank you all for any help and can't wait to be a co-workers of any Southwest Airlines Worker.

I figured it might not be a bad idea to start a thread dedicated to the AirTran integration and what it means for both incumbent and prospective employees of both airlines. Post anything regarding this subject here.

I was previousy employed at swa for 5 yrs and was terminated in 2007 :( My grievance went all the way to arbitration but ultimately I was not reinstated (I am rehireable). It's been almost 4 yrs and I'm determined to work for southwest again. I've had phone interviews and flew to HOU for a one on one, but I end up receiving rejection letters. Do you think the company is hesitant to rehire me because I tried to fight for my job for almost a year w/the union? Any pointers? I have another phone interview but I'm not sure how to answer "why did you leave the company?" Should I try something else? Thanks for your help :)

Hi All, I interviewed at SW for the position of a reservtaion agent. I was called and offered the job after background check/drug test cleared. Training starts in December and I am super excited............EXCEPT..I got a new hire email today talking about training. We travel to Dallas (to headquarters) for 3 days for orientation. While in Dallas, we will have roomates at the hotel. Is it just me or is that just creepy? I mean, I know it's a tough economy, but come on......bunking w/ a complete stranger? I could never feel like I could truly relax with someone else in the room, unless the person was already a friend. There are those moments when you want to have a personal conversation with a spouse, or you want to watch what you want to watch on the tv, or you just want to go to the restroom without being concerned about what the other person might hear or smell. EWWWW!!! The idea of also having to share my sleeping, showering, dressing, and relaxing time with a coworker, let alone a stranger ,just makes me shudder. The company is sending me away from home, so I should be able to have some free time after done training for the day. Hell, it is hard enough for me to sleep in a strange bed/room/town. I certainly wouldn't be able to sleep with a strange person in the room. People are vulnerable when they sleep. They may talk in their sleep, they may walk in their sleep, they may drool or do other unpleasant things that they don't want co-workers to know about. Shared sleeping space (with someone other than an intimate) increases the normal vulnerability associated with sleep-time. I checked w/ the hotel and there was no separate rate set up for those who wish to get their own room. The rate is pretty high...it is a 4 star hotel. I mean, if I pay for it myself, that's a week's salary. What do you guys think? I have not addressed HR at this point because I do not want to make waves (as a newbie) HELP!!!! Bob in PHX

APPLIED ONLINE FOR SWA CUST REP,RCVD EMAIL RE PHONE SCREEN ABOUT 2 WEEKS LATER/INVITED TO F2F AT END OF PHONE SCREEN/ HAD A F2F ONE ON ONE INTERVIEW,RECRUITER WAS REALLY FRIENDLY AND EASY GOING. MY INTERVIEW WAS ACTUALLY FUN! REVIEWED ALL ASPECTS OF POSITION/TRAINING/BENEFITS ETC.WITH ME. WE TALKED FOR MORE THAN AN HOUR. AFTERWARDS I WAS INFORMED SOMEONE WOULD CONTACT ME WITHIN 2 WEEKS BY PHONE OR EMAIL TO INFORM ME IF I WILL BE INVITED TO PROCEED TO THE NEXT STEP IN HIRING. I SEE A LOT OF FOLKS HAVE POSTED ON THIS SITE THAT THEY WERE DRUG TESTED/FINGERPRINTED/BG CHECKED AL ON THE SAME DAY OF F2F INTERVIEW. SINCE I DID HAVE ALL THAT HAPPEN ON THE SAME DAY DOES IT MEAN I PROBABLY WILL NOT BE HIRED? REALLY WANT TO WORK AT SWA!!!!!! I ALSO HAD A LETTER OF REC FROM A CURRENT SWA FA. ANY INFO IS APPRECIATED!!!!

12 years ago while in SW FA training, I was dismissed after one week of class for lateness. Due to lack of sleep (I'm sure) I mistakenly went to the "wrong class". After I realized it, I ran as fast as I could to my correct class;but the door locked a second before I got there. About a week after I was home I received a letter from SW stating that I could never apply for ANY position with their company. I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else and do you think if it would matter if I sent a letter to HR or called to see if their policy was still the same?
