The nationwide average length of stay for patient visiting the emergency department is 3 hours and 42 minutes. At Southwest Regional Medical Center, we have cut our average length of stay to just 2 hours and 20 minutes.
We have accomplished this by implementing the best technology to serve you. Our ProMed computer system helps us to treat patients in the most efficient way possible, providing diagnostic and management information to help streamline the process for you and your family. The system also holds us to a higher standard of care by ensuring consistency and excellence for our patients.
Our physicians and registered nurses specialize in emergency medicine and are here to serve you 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We treat more than 15,000 patients each year, regardless of their age or income, with the same standard of quality care.
The emergency department has 8 treatment rooms with immediate access to laboratory testing and diagnostic services. Most of the patients with conditions serious enough to require admission are able to be admitted to Southwest Regional. We are also now able to provide care for intensively ill patients in our Intensive Care Unit. In cases where patients need specialized care that is not available at our hospital, our ED staff will arrange the transfer directly from our department.
Everyone gets sick now and then and accidents will happen. Some illnesses and minor injuries can be taken care of at home with ice, rest, or by visiting your physician, but other illnesses and injuries need immediate medical attention and should be seen at the emergency department immediately.
For instance, a patient who is having chest pain should come immediately to Southwest Regional for care. Our nationally accredited cardiology department can quickly assess your condition and stabilize you to minimize damage that can occur with a heart attack. In serious situations such as this, every second counts. We are here to help you get the best possible care right here in your own community. – less–ZoomInfo
