BRANCH MANAGER IV (Former Employee) – New Bedford, MA – October 6, 2016
This financial institution has the ability to be a very good company. I find that if senior leadership was to stick to one bank methodology for a significant time, as apposed to various changes very often they would render better overall service.
Sr. Personal Banker (Former Employee) – Lancaster, PA – February 21, 2012
Sovereign Bank has product and service that are easy to sell. They also show that they value their employee's productivity by awarding them with Red Carpet awards and other Gifts. Sovereign has training that is the best I have experience thru out my banking career and will ensure that their employee's are the best. Soveriegn does this by providing them with the tools and resources that are needed to effective perform their job. I was allowed to show my abilities during conversion of other banks that Sovereign had aquired and also strengthen and gain knowledge in area's that where needed. Sovereign is a great place to work.
the opportunity to learn different jobs, the ability to utilize your skills
coverage in other branches that needed the most, flexibility
Great people, but overall company needs some improvement
Teller III/Customer Service Representative (Current Employee) – Avon, CT – July 22, 2012
My typical day at work consists of processing customers transactions accurately and consistantly making sales, while following policy & procedure and always being in compliance. My co-workers that I currently work with are a wonderful group of people that I do enjoy to work with. However, the staffing has gone down within the entire company, which can be difficult at times, when trying to keep the customers happy or to make a sale when you are trying to move the line of customers, both inside thel obby and at the drive up, alone. The most enjoyable part of my job is working with the public. I do enjoy the short conversations with many people through out the day and enjoy the sales environment.
insurance benefits, employee discount perks, wonderful people to work with
very long hours, demanding but rewarding jobs. I love managing my team members but feel disconnected from my peers since we have our individual branches. The hardest part of my job is the longest hours and managing to each executive's priorities.
Customer Service Representative (Former Employee) – Ashland, MA – April 9, 2012
Over the years while working at Sovereign Bank, a CSR if he/she has the ability to develop a business relationship, can actually enjoy the environ of associating oneself with this bank. Frlendly atmosphere at working level and also with customers is one of the rare phenomenon existing here. I could develop a good business relationship with customers and was a good resource for personnel at the desk for referrals. Management also encourages employees with rewards to find customers for banking at Sovereign Bank whose umbrella covers a variety of features to meet financial needs of customer.
Personal Banker/ Teller I (Former Employee) – Plaistow, NH – October 7, 2015
Great interaction with customers but the quotas and goals overpower your ability to care about customer needs. Most customers become frustrated with constant sales pitches which makes meeting goals very difficult to reach.
Sovereign Bank begna as a great place to work but in the past 2 years has become unbearable. The demands they place on the team members are unrealistic and virtually unattainable. The management controls through fear and bullying. I would not recommend this employer. The are in the blame business and not in the development business. The system they use is antiquated and full of holes that directly impact customers. Im surprised they are still in business. If the customers knew half the issues behind the scenes they would change banks in a momnet.
line level people are great.
management has one of the worst models of leadership i have ever seen.
bank teller (Former Employee) – Nashua, NH – April 9, 2014
A typical day at work would be to handle bank transactions such as checking and savings deposits, loan payments, balancing the ATM and currency exchange. I always found my supervisor and the manager to be approachable. The bank manager had a great sense of humor and it made the work environment very pleasant. I enjoyed working at this bank as well as at Citizens bank (worked as a banker as well, processing loans, etc) The hardest part of working at Citizens would be the sales goals, as this was challenging. Sovereign Bank did not have sales goals at the time that I worked there.
very busy branch, but still and awesome place to work
Teller Supervisor (Former Employee) – Township of Jackson, NJ – February 13, 2015
Even though we were very busy, we were still able to hit all of our goals and then some. We ended up being one of the top proformers of our footprint. It always helps when your team members work together and have healthy relationships. That, I believe is what lead us to our success.
Personal Banking Representative (Former Employee) – Middletown, NJ – September 23, 2012
I worked for Sovereign Bank for 6 years. When I started working there I could honestly say it was a really good company to work for. The last couple of years it became more about telemarketing than customer service which was not something I was fond of. To me the best way to keep customers is to provide them with the best service possible but somewhere along the way Sovereign lost that. It was totally that when I started working there and it was the part of the job that I loved.
i was able to get medical benefits as a part timer
to much emphasis on telemarketing instead of customer service
Business Bank/Head Teller (Former Employee) – Cranston, RI – November 6, 2013
A typical day at work for me was booking appointments, confirming appts., billing, keeping charts in order. Sanitizing rooms and instruments for the next patient. I learned how to assist the dentist and hygienist with their daily routines, and the front desk management. All the co--workers were very informative, and helpful. The hardest part of the job was seeing people cry when they were in the dental chair. The most enjoyable part of the job was seeing clients leave with a nice and happy smile excited to return for their next visit.
Personal Banking Representative (Former Employee) – Worcester, MA – March 11, 2013
Sovereign Bank gave me an opportunity to work for them right out of college. It was great at first. I enjoyed helping people with their financial situations and I liked talking to people and building relationships with them. After some time, the focus became more about making money than helping people. It was such a disgrace. I could not continue to work for a company that made its money by preying on its customers. The operating hours were good and the compensation was decent.
Executive Management (Former Employee) – Reading, Pa – December 18, 2014
I loved my job working for Sovereign Bank, however the moved my office when I was out on maternity leave to a bad section of town. Unfortunately, that along with the low pay rate, I did not return. My job consisted of responding to all customer complaints within a 3 day turn around on behalf of the CEO. Educating customers on the policies and procedure of the bank as well as assisting them with balancing a checkbook.
