Temporary Associate (Current Employee), LaPorte, IN – December 2, 2014
Pros: insurance, steady job placement, placement list for jobs
Cons: half hour unpaid lunches, not full 8 hour shifts, only insurance while working, no travel compensation, no extra assistance
Spartan Staffing in all is a decent place to be registered with if you require work and have experience in General or Manufacturing Experience. They place you in Full-Time Status work but mostly Temporary Work as you are labeled Temp-To-Hire. Unfortunately most of the times it ends in termination after a Month or Two of working through each company. – more... They do provide Health Care for Individuals as well as Family Coverage in Vision, Dental and Primary Health but ONLY when you are currently working at an assigned job location.
Spartan does consider all jobs assigned as Full-Time, HOWEVER most jobs they list are 7 and 1/2 hours instead of 8 as they do not place you the Full 8 hours. All of the jobs I have been assigned to thus far have been 7 and 1/2. Your supervisor at the assigned jobs however most of the time will ask you to stay the full 8 hours.
Spartan does require you to be available at all times, unfortunately this causes a draw back if you have small children and your spouse works or your unable to find a sitter. As experienced, I have had to turn down job offers due to immediate need of placement at the assigned job. Unfortunately if you collect unemployment, this is a very bad situation if you turn down work through them.
If you do turn down work, they seem to place you on an availability list but you do get sent lower paying jobs at this point. I have seen this several times dealing with the company BUT they will always find work for you at some point.
Spartan all in all is not a bad place to work but would recommend you try and find real employment while temporarily employed through Spartan. – less
Forklift Operator (Current Employee), Pamplico sc – November 18, 2014
Great Staff very friendly and work very hard to find jobs and placement is almost guaranteed as long as there are positions opened and you meet the basic requirments and all the testing is done right there at the office
laborer (Former Employee), Syracuse, NY – November 4, 2014
Pros: alot of work and free lunch
Cons: messy job
In a typical work day I would have to go in after an event and clean up after. It required a lot of work in which I did seem to enjoy. The management however could have been a little better with better benefits. Co-workers were team player and interesting people. There was always work to be done so it made the job different every night.
Material Handler (Current Employee), Burlington, NJ – November 2, 2014
Pros: free snacks on saturdays
Cons: 15 min break on saturday
The opportunity I have received from Spartan Staffing Agency have been incredible and convenient. My typical day of work consist of unloading freight from a loaded or half loaded truck. I and my helpful co-worker unload the freight and sort it out usually by P.O. which means Purchase Order and then get processed and flag and taken away.
The most enjoyable – more... part of my job is getting the job finished in timely and safe manner and the friendship I've developed with my co-workers. – less
Staffing Specialist (Current Employee), Independence, MO – October 19, 2014
Very fast paced, not the best pay, best part of the job is the client relationships you build. If you want an entry level position that teaches you about basic sales, account management and staffing this is the place to go. Downside is they train you for maybe a couple of days.
