Broadband Technician (Former Employee) –  Durham, NCAugust 14, 2017
Time to yourself makes for less stress. Good pay, some days longer dealing with certain conditions and customers. When you get your check, it all seems worth it.

Not a good place to start career
Greeter (Former Employee) –  Charlotte, NCAugust 14, 2017
I started with Time Warner Cable then while employed Spectrum bought out the company. Spectrum is not a good company to work for. The pressure that the sales reps experience to reach reach sales goals is ridiculous. The company odes not respect & embrace individuality everyone looks cookie cutter. No work life balance which cause stress on the job. STAY AWAY FROM SECTRIUM
Pros
Great medical, dental, retirement, 401 k benefits, life insurance at a low rate
Cons
Stressful work environment

Plant Engineer (Current Employee) –  Brooklyn, NYAugust 14, 2017
Due to a discord between Union employees and Management, the company has become an increasingly difficult place to work. The marginalized view of the Union employees by Management, has created an environment where an over emphasis is placed on meeting unrealistic goals. The company's focus has been to corner the TelCom market, fueling a monopoly driven business model, above the quality of technical craftsmanship.
Pros
Potential for six figure income, Union protected job security, competitive benefits.
Cons
Systematic effort by company to offer "tempting" employmeng options, while providing zero job secutity.

Great management and tech, far too many consultants
DevOps Consultant (Former Employee) –  Greenwood Village, COAugust 13, 2017
Management and the tech were absolutely great at Charter Spectrum. They were doing some absolutely amazing things.

There were far too many unqualified consultants at the location I worked however and the developers were packed into cubes (2-3 per cube) and on card tables like sardines. To me that type of environment is not conducive to creative and high quality development work.
Pros
Great management, great tech
Cons
Too many unqualified consultants and not enough space per developer

Fantastic Job...but terrible management in the Northwest
Direct Sales Supervisor (Former Employee) –  OregonAugust 13, 2017
door to door sales is a ton a fun if you have the right personality. The problem with Charter right now is that you are selling the same used car for the last 5 years. Charter in the northwest is literally so far behind in technology, makes it difficult to get people out of their current provider. The other big problem is that you have to sell either a triple play or a double play in order to get paid. And both of those require TV service. But many families are going away from TV. People just want internet only now. at charter, you are given 500 doors every month, you cant get referrals, and if you dont sell them a triple then you dont get a commission for it. Charter is basically using reps as advertisement and top-of-the-mind-awareness marketing tools. last month charter cut the payout of 98% of all reps. Reps make almost $60 less per sale. In the northwest there is only one person out of 50 that is making good money. i can go on and on about this....but i will leave it at that. Not a good time to be a sales rep at charter. This job is even worst for a supervisor. You get paid worst then reps, and work a ton more. i work on average about 60 hours a week. management rules with an iron fist, which makes everyone nervous to say anything. Its really bad....i have never been treated so badly at any position before and have always been successful at every job I have ever been at.
Pros
benefits
Cons
massive micro management, unrealistic work expectations, pay for how much you work, no family life, management rules with iron fist.

Great people that will be in your corner long after you leave the company
HSD Repair Representative II (Former Employee) –  San Diego, CAAugust 12, 2017
I will admit that since the purchase of TWC by Charter there have been alot of changes that the company has implemented, alot of it is not good and seems to benefit the company more than the employees and customers. However, One thing that has not changed is the people you will meet there. The people that you will meet at the San Diego Call Center are the most professional, most friendly, most people that you will ever meet

Knowledge Management Manager (Former Employee) –  Herndon, VAAugust 12, 2017
Not prepared to make the jump from being #4 to being #2.
I can't speak to the culture prior to the merger with TWC, but post-merger, they were unprepared, unable to catch up, and were disrespectful of legacy TWC employees.
They drove away a great deal of talent by failing to continue operations in the Dulles Tech Corridor.

It didn't feel like a job
HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGER (Former Employee) –  Flushing, NYAugust 11, 2017
At Time Warner, I had the pleasure of directly dealing with all the staff and manager's in order to ensure their work-life balance was taken care of daily. I helped to take care of any concerns from on-boarding, performance maintenance, heath care and just day to day functions. The go to person and if I didn't know I would find out for you.

Worst Company of 2017!
Technician (Current Employee) –  Brooklyn, NYAugust 11, 2017
Spectrum is the Worst Company to come to existence and should not be in Business due to lack of management experience in cable industry. They are Liars and cheaters and do not respect their Customers nor employees they are only concerned in their Greed of money and doesn't bother them if they destroy businesses or families as long as they get their blood money. That is the Goal of the Ceo and upper management. Whatever they over you they will take away with interest so do yourself a favor and save and save for life and Career for a different Employer!

Working there at the time it was called Charter Communications. You had to sale on every call. Selling a land line telephone was hard since technology took over.

Troubleshooting Service Representative (Former Employee) –  Louisville, KYAugust 10, 2017
One customer will make your day and the other, dash your hopes and dreams in back to back calls, until that is that, you realize everybody is going through something in their life. For the most part. You learn to not take things personally. A typical day at work was a roller coaster. It was a lot of sitting. A lot of listening. It was an experience.

no longer allow to work from home
Campaign Operations Manager, Marketing (Former Employee) –  San Diego, CAAugust 10, 2017
I worked for TimeWarner Cable before it merged with Charter Communications. Spectrum is the name of the cable product branded under the combined companies. The work environment between the 2 companies was night and day. Benefit of working from home was taken away and you must be located in Stamford, CT to advance.
