Great customer service experience
Field Technician (Former Employee) –  Yuma, AZJune 8, 2017
The first and only company face customers usually see is that of the technician. Doing everything from installs, troubleshooting, and billing questions.

Its a good job and can potentially has its rewards with high income. But, you MUST be a self motivated worker and a self taught employee. Do not rely on others to teach

Customer Service Call Center
Video Repair Customer Service Representative (Current Employee) –  Rochester, NYJune 7, 2017
Very Good benefits and payment. Advancement Paths clear and achievable. A typical day at work includes getting a new customer on the phone every 10-20 minutes (in average). Most customers are nice and understand their services. Occasionally you can get a bad streak of very angry customers. 70% of the day people are nice.

The hardest part of the job would be receiving complaints and being berated constantly by the customer. Customer Service in all its forms brings this, but getting calls is specially prone to angry customers.

The job culture is that of helping each other and to help you succeed.

Management is under constant pressure for metrics. They will try to help but often are too crowded by their responsibilities to disperse all of your concerns. They do try and are nice people.
Pros
Good job culture, payment and benefits.
Cons
dealing with very angry customers.

Business Account Executive (Former Employee) –  Saint Louis County, MOJune 7, 2017
Mixed reviews- in order to be successful long term, you need a strong referral base -internally and externally. If you're familiar with telecom, the technical aspects and create the referral base, you'll have long term success and make lots of money. Otherwise, you are fighting hard for minimal sales- constantly tripping over other reps in the field and subject to volatility in your pay and performance. Initial training is poor and a waste of time. Continuation training was more helpful and detailed, Unfortunately, if you are new to the industry, retaining any training without hands on implementation or written materials proves to be quite difficult. The company needs to invest more in this aspect of the job or they will continue to churn out reps and waste dollars. My team was supportive and highly ethical-I worked with a great group of people. Unfortunately, the field support from my manager was lacking and the admin support after the sale was lacking as well. Great benefits, incentives and cheerleading but they struggle with coaching and development.
Pros
Great contests, incentives, recognition, benefits, positive culture
Cons
poor training, admin support, manager field support

Good Place to Work
Software Engineer (Former Employee) –  Broomfield, COJune 7, 2017
Lower level management is very nice and understanding, upper management not so much. My supervisor was fantastic.

With the recent merger, a lot of employee benefits have been cut. Turnover is fairly high as Charter likes contractors more than regular employees. Some employee rules are old and put a damper on morale.

Employees do have a say and morale is still good, however. While the culture has taken a slight turn for the worse, it's still pretty good.
Pros
Occasional free lunches, good people to work with
Cons
Fewer benefits, highish turnover

Manager (Current Employee) –  Stamford, CTJune 7, 2017
Terrible work life balance...managed in a silo. Grueling hours and deadlines. The general attitude since the acquisition of TWC and Brighthouse is very poor in the office

Poor management, Can't have referals
DSR (Former Employee) –  Greensboro, NCJune 7, 2017
Worse place I have ever seen, Managers push you around if you get a referral which is a way of life in sales you can't have it. If you get bad turf you have to live with it for a month. Very unethical also. Also there is the buddy buddy system
Pros
Free Cable
Cons
Too many to list

DSR - Sales (Former Employee) –  San Antonio, TXJune 6, 2017
Spectrum sales used to be great!
As a DSR you will learn the following:

1)Customers can get a better deal if they called in
2)All you sell are bundled deals (home phone+cable+ Internet)
3) You don't get paid for single sales. ( you CANT sell just Internet only)
4) If you sell 9 or LESS sales, you DON'T get a commission paycheck for that month.
5) You are restricted to only 500 leads in an area. You can't sell to a person that is not in your area.
6) You have to wait a month and a half before you get a commission check for your sales
7) If one of your sales downgrades or cancels, you LOSE commission for that sale. NO PARTIAL PAYMENT.
8) You get taxed 33% off your pay for God knows what.
9) You have to be on 3 conference calls, mon-saturday .
10) You are encourage not to declare mileage because they don't pay commute to your starting destination and from your ending destination.
11) You have two weekly meetings that are at the office.
Pros
The benefits
Cons
All you sell are triples all day every day

Field Technician (Former Employee) –  Morrisville, NCJune 6, 2017
1 White guy crashed trucks, cursed out customers, didnt listen to direct supervisor, kept filthy appearance, showed up late, and had issues with calling out some times. He would get threatened with paperwork but never anything serious. I am black. I had superior numbers, got acknowledged for good work, never had a write up, good customer scores, and missed called out 2 days out of the 2 years I worked there. I accepted a tip from a customer and got fired. 1st offense. no write up at all.

Sales Support Supervisor (Current Employee) –  Cerritos, CAJune 6, 2017
Spectrum is a great company to work for. I started in 2010 as temp to hire and was hired on early 2011. Since then I have been given the opportunity to learn and develop my leadership skills as a supervisor in my department, The company has excellent benefits and offers available to employees.
Pros
Benefits and employee perks and discounts
Cons
in such a big company it's hard to get all departments on the same page with new info.

Get as much done as you can as quick as you can. Constantly over scheduled and not given the time to complete jobs. I want to do a good job but always have to take shortcuts.

Customer Relations Coordinator (Current Employee) –  Rochester, MNJune 6, 2017
While they have excellent benefits and opportunities for overtime and advancement that keep you there, it's fast paced and stressful environment with some very difficult customers and sometimes even worse upper management. It's not for everyone.
Pros
Great health benefits, Overtime, Decent hourly wage
Cons
Short breaks, Upset/Hostile customers, Negligent Management
