Driver Mechanic (Current Employee) –  Danbury, CTDecember 2, 2016
Its a Driver/Mechanic and a Cheif on a truck testing rail. Its a good job for a someone thats single, but not for everybody. You wont really have a life living in and out of hotels. Its an easy job if you enjoy hands on work and driving. Drivers start out at $10-11 depending on driving experience may start out at $14. Drivers can work they're way up if they show pride in they're work and want to be promoted you can go through a class to become Cheif, but be prepared for ALOT of travel. Get vacation time but if they are short on drivers youll have to take vacation when its more convienent. Website site is SperryRail.com to read more about company.
Pros
Pays decent, great job for a mechanic or single male/female

Will get to travel a lot. If you are signal and want to see different places this is for you. You will be starting around $11 as a driver and work you way up from there. But you don't just drive you have maintance and other duties that you must complete. If you have a family it will be very hard on you.

office (Current Employee) –  Danbury, CTNovember 9, 2015
There are two types of individuals at the company, office and field. Office employees benefit greatly but field employees are on a 100% travel position.

Sperry Rail Driver's
Truck Driver (Current Employee) –  USADecember 27, 2013
A typical as a Sperry Rail Service driver consists of maintaining the truck you work on, writing up defects while on the train tracks. I learned how to work on engines and how to operate a hydraulic motor and high rail gear. Management is a phone call away when you are working out in the field or in your hotel room. Your coworker is the closest thing to a boss. the hardest thing about this job is being away from home for extended periods of time. The free travel is the best thing about this company.
Pros
Travel

working with diverse groups of major railroad companies including the canadian company. the hardest part of the job is being away from the family for three or more months at a time, especially during the holiday seasons. love working for a company that gives good benefits to all employees, meal budgets, lodgeing, and weekly communications with all spuervisors, chiefs, and railroad personnel. have learned alot on metals, ultrasonic programs, testing with special equipment.
Pros
great pay and benefits
Cons
away from family too long
