Cashier/Gift Center (Former Employee), Visalia CAJune 8, 2013
Pros: the whole job was enjoyable
Cons: n/a
I had an exciting job, meeting new customers, and learning what they were interested in. I loved selling sunglasses to various customers. It was easy to enjoy this job, because everyone was kind and fun. I was determined to find the answer to any customers question and learn more about our sporting goods.

Great place to work for a college student
Supervisor (Current Employee), San Marcos, CAJune 5, 2013
Pros: flexibility
Cons: benefits/pay
Sport Chalet offers a fun work environment and a very flexible schedule for students. You get to talk about sports with customers and really get to know each and every one of them. Most people really enjoy their co-workers as well.

Bad company to work for! BEWARE!
Cashier (Current Employee), BurbankMay 17, 2013
Pros: you might make new friends with co- workers
Cons: minimum pay with guaranteed no raises! makes you feel like a immigrant desperate for work.
I am wonderful with people! This place sucks the life out of you! You will NEVER get a raise! They stopped giving them 5 years ago. The company is good to work for if you don't expect appreciation. Slave Labor! They want to control your life with giving you endless hours of unappreciated work. You deserve better! Work somewhere else! The benefits are – more... what they give customers. I've worked for companies that give you 60% off ( what is deserved). This company gives you 25%. It isn't worth it! I've been an idiot for 3 years. I won't take it anymore! – less

fun environment with flexible schedule
Department merchandising and sales manager (Current Employee), Porter Ranch, CAApril 25, 2013
Pros: flexible schedule, works well with school
Cons: corporate doesn't talk to each other, there is constant changes being made depending on who is walking the store that day.
A typical day at work involves helping customers, maintaining sales floor and merchandise, and merchandising in new products.
I've learned a lot about time management and how to work well and communicate with others.
The hardest part of my job is dealing with unhappy and angry customers.
the most enjoyable part of my job is merchandising and putting – more... out new products and making the sales floor look good by making it a place that people will want to shop. – less

horrible work enviroment
admin (Former Employee), La Canada Flintridge CaApril 10, 2013
Pros: there where no pros
Cons: no paid sick time, no company support, only six paid holidays a year
La Canada This was the worst company I have ever workded for, no training management was the worst and the staff members where miserable and complained all day. This company does not care about there employees have not given them raises in four years and work them to death.

Sales Associate (Current Employee), chino hillsMarch 25, 2013

Corportate Office
administrative assistant (Former Employee), la canada, caMarch 22, 2013
Cons: no support, horrible pay, even worse managers
I have worked at some multi million dollar companies and this has to be absolutely the WORST office I have worked at in my entire life. I have heard how great the retail end is but the corporate office is run by a manipulating self absorbed idiot that knows nothing. She makes sure no one speaks to one another and that every aspect of the company goes – more... thru her, from HR to admin staff she makes all decisions. Every department is told not to interact with one another and when management starts to feel threatened they get rid of you in a snap. Unfortunately this company pays horribly and has even worse benefits if you need work experience this is the equivalent of working at McDonalds in high school. RUN don't stop hear. – less

Bicycle Mechanic, Cashier, Customer Service (Former Employee), Burbank,CaMarch 13, 2013
Pros: once i got to the bike dept, work became very fun.
Cons: terrible managers, horrible pay, raises were a joke...health care, just as bad.
I spent my first few years as a cashier. Then, I was crosstrained in General Athletics and Bicycle Repair. I left the company crosstrained in three departments Bicycle, Cashiers, General Athletics. My final title was Master Bicycle Mechanic.

part-time job only
sales associate holiday (Former Employee), so calFebruary 28, 2013
Pros: discounts, coworkers, cool stuff they carry
Cons: pay, no beneifts, schedules
Good for part-time money and not your primary income. Great discounts and opportunities to learn about other sports and the people who enjoy them. No pay raises in years is what I was told by coworkers and don't expect it soon it seems. So negotiate high as you can. Great discounts on almost everything so if your looking to get into another sport this – more... is the place to find out about it. Hours get cut major after holidays. – less
