About Sportech, Inc

Sportech PLC was founded through the reverse takeover of Rodime PLC in 2000.

Rodime, which was founded in 1979 and listed on the London Stock Exchange in 1986, had its principal business in licensing and the exploitation of its patents covering disc drive and data storage systems. The residual patent business was sold for $1.5m in July 2003.

In September 2000, Rodime PLC announced the acquisition of the Littlewoods Gaming business (formerly Littlewoods Leisure) from The Littlewoods Organisation for £161m, thus changing the principal business of Rodime PLC to gaming and betting.

In August 2002, Sportech acquired the Football Pools business of Zetters International Pools Ltd, a subsidiary of Zetters Group plc, for £1.35m.

Littlewoods Casino was launched in August 2002 and offers its players over 80 games with cutting edge gameplay and superb graphics. The casino offers progressive jackpot games with prizes in excess of £1million.

Littlewoods Poker Launched in November 2003, Littlewoods Poker offers players the chance to play online poker against real players, from all around the world. Littlewoods Poker is part of a leading poker network and offers its players the chance to win seats at the world's biggest and most glamourous live events; such as the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas and the Carribbean Poker Classic in St Kitts.

In October 2005, Ian Penrose was appointed as Chief Executive.

In November 2005, Piers Pottinger was appointed as Non-Executive Deputy Chairman and John Barnes was appointed as a Non-Executive Director.

In January 2006, Piers Pottinger was appointed as Non-Executive Chairman and Gary Speakman was promoted to Chief Operating Officer.

In January 2006, Sportech plc extended its offering of gaming products with online bingo with littlewoodsbingo.com.

Launched in January 2006, Littlewoods Bingo provides great bingo games together with chat, jackpots and a whole range of other exciting games.

In June 2006, Sportech launched Goal Rush, the first significant new product to be added to the Company's Football Pools portfolio of games for over 50 years. It has been designed specifically around the World Cup 2006, with the view to attract new audiences and place the Football Pools business firmly back at the heart of the Group. It carries a £3 million prize and is the biggest prize ever offered in the history of the Football Pools.

June 2006 also saw the sale of Bet Direct, one of management's strategic objectives in restructuring and repositioning Sportech, to provide a firm foundation for future growth.

The Group now intends to focus on the strengths and qualities of its football gaming business, Littlewoods casino, poker, bingo and associated brands and games. By diversifying both its product range and its methods of distribution, the Group intends to attract a wider customer base and make its games more accessible and easier to play in order to re-establish its position in the market.

Sportech PLC now provides a variety of betting and gaming opportunities to over 1.5m customers through Littlewoods Gaming.

Sportech is developing Littlewoods Gaming through the utilisation of new channels of distribution to bring more games to more players in the home, capitalising on the strengths of the well-trusted Littlewoods brand.

In July 2006 Steve Cunliffe was appointed Finance Director and Company Secretary of Sportech PLC. Steve joined Sportech from his position as Finance Executive of Hemway Limited.

Buyer/Planner, Elk River, MN - September 2, 2014
Early riser so I was in before most to have the quiet time to get a head start on my day or complete tasks early.
We all learned many things due to the growth of the company from 10M to 65M. New software implementation. Fast pace to learn to be efficient.
Great Team... couldn't ask for better people.
Hardest part of the job was trying to balance home and work as our summers are very busy.
The best part of the job was learning innovative ideas in design, building vendor relationships, and the overall process of production. It is great to see a project through from idea to reality.
