SMT (SportsMEDIA Technology) is the pioneer in real-time on-screen graphics, tickers, clock-and-score, virtual insertions and social media integration for live televised sport and entertainment events.
SMT was founded in 1988 by Gerard J. Hall after developing the first real-time scoring and wireless data delivery system for the PGA Tour, replacing standard walkie-talkie communication. Since then, SMT’s innovations have spanned the world of sports and technology, providing broadcasters the data, graphics, support tools and displays to put at-home fans in the middle of the action.
For well over a decade, SMT’s solutions have enhanced such events as:
The Super Bowl
The NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament
The PGA Tour
The Indianapolis 500
The X Games
SMT’s long-standing relationships with leading sports broadcasters including NBC Sports, ESPN, ABC Sports, CBS Sports, IndyCar, Fox Sports and Turner Sports establish the company as an industry leader, laying the foundation for other broadcasters to utilize SMT’s diverse array of products and on-site support.
In 2012, SMT acquired IDS (Information and Display Systems), a Jacksonville, Fla.-based company that provides scoring, results and statistics on-site for live events. IDS specializes in technical support such as virtual set design, video displays, custom software and scoring, statistics and data capture. Together, SMT and IDS provide a comprehensive, turn-key solution for our clients.
SMT continues to support its existing clients while expanding the client roster to include regional networks like NESN, ROOT, MASN and MSG, among others.
As our reputation and product development grow, so does our event roster. Some of our newly added events include:
