Sr. Software Engineer (Former Employee) –  San FranciscoAugust 25, 2017
My manager sucked big time, he told us that he doesn't want to write more code and said that coding is obsolete now.
didn't know how to communicate at all.
He used to be very abusive verbally. He is a person in DATA team.
Pros

Cons
Stupid and non technical people leading teams, no idea what they want to do

Over hiring
Cx experience specialist (Former Employee) –  Orlando, FLMay 9, 2017
This company doesn't care about their people. The management is not experienced and extremely young. The training at this company is ran a lot like a high school class without a lot of hands on training with taking calls. They do not provide you with any scripts but will not work with you when it comes to messaging and continued training. There is a long time between calls which leads me to think they do not have the business to hire as many employees as they do. The most senior person at the Orlando location has only been with the company for 2 years tops! The trainwe has been there less that that and always talks about how he used to work at Apple and doesn't know how to control his class room (off topic conversations) they hire by sending emails and signing documents electronically this alone should have been a red sign if they cannot pick up the phone and formally offer a position. ALWAYS THREATENING TO FIRE AND TALK TO YOU LIKE YOU ARE STUPID AND NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR THEIR COMPANY.
Not enough diversity in management
Pros
Nice office space
Cons
Threatening to fire, training is lacking

Fun, Casual and Productive
Analyst (Former Employee) –  San Francisco, CAMay 9, 2017
SquareTrade is a great company to start your career. The company hires talented individuals and try to maintain a good work/life balance. The atmosphere is casual for the most part but professional and productive at the same time. The company also offers annual events like the annual picnic and holiday party.
Pros
Great talent, beautiful office, snacks
Cons
Compensation could be higher

Bait And Switch Company
Floor Supervisor (Former Employee) –  Orlando, FLJanuary 16, 2017
They tell you that they aren't the "typical call center" upon interviewing. That is exactly what they have become under the cloak of corporate greed as they to remain competitive with Asurion.
Pros
Catered Food occasionally
Cons
Poorly managed, Poor training process.

Rapid expansion has lead to growing pains for SquareTrade. Currently, the company is working to solidify its role as an industry leader. The leadership team is challenged with maintaining the company culture and its customer focus during the expansion.

Responsible for the handling of inbound calls 25-30 calls per day.
i value working as a team and working daily with supervisors and managers in resolving a wide variety of issues our customers may face from shipping issues to claim processing complications. The most enjoyable part of my job is being able to help customers with various issues but my hardest part is wishing i had additional tools or powers to better execute my job duties to go above and beyond for all customers.

Laid off because they couldn't afford us
Specialist/TV Analysis Technician (Former Employee) –  San Francisco, CAJuly 1, 2016
Worked with Squaretrade for a year, and because of the new office in Orlando they laid off 35 hard working people. Horrible.

Claims Specialist (Current Employee) –  Orlando, FLJune 3, 2016
This company has found its self having budgeting problems. They are moving a lot of jobs overseas, They are making employees take on extra roles but do not increase their pay for it. (Cheap labor) the company has very slick language to CTA (Cover Their A**), high turn over rates and they much prefer to fire and rehire then to keep quality people around. I was advised regularly to take advantage of customers knowing they did not understand their full rights (Old, people, people with warranties on lower cost products (toys r us, tiger direct, and QVC customers mostly), and people with warranties on "mirage items" which are items with warranties that Squaretrade sells but can not be covered because of the terms and conditions of the warranty. The sole purpose of those warranties is for branding. I'm pretty sure this company will be sold in the near future do to the decline in profits. Their is currently undercover operations being conducted on this company based on claims made against them. Heads Up!
Pros
Decent pay, Co-workers
Cons
Too many to list, Over worked, threats of being fired

Can be a great place to work
Customer Service Specialist (Current Employee) –  San Francisco, CAMay 19, 2015
Can be a great place to work if your hours are flexible. Direct management is a hit or miss. Upper management will remember who you are but does not fully understand your day to day.
Pros
free snacks and drinks
Cons
information gets passed down after the change

Culture and dynamics are changing
Senior Manager (Current Employee) –  San Francisco, CAOctober 2, 2013
SquareTrade has led the way in innovation and delivering an exception service & product for a very traditional and bulk market. SquareTrade's vision remains exceptional. It is a company that is always pushing for new and better ways to provide support to their new and potential customers.

On the downside, with the strong growth SquareTrade been seeing, there has been a big lose in the once great internal culture.

great breakfast on Monday; good free lunches on Fridays
