I enjoyed the time I worked there. I thought the people around me were very professional and safety orientated. They practiced what they preached. It was a great environment for learning and growing in the oilfield industry.
As a company they took the time to train and advance each individual.
A typical day at work involved, checking pumps, mud checks, mixing mud, and working the derrick board. Being a derrick hand involved a lot of teaching and sharing knowledge of the industry and safety regulations.
What I enjoyed most was being a senior hand, the "go to" guy. The hardest part of this job was time away from family and the commitment it took to do the job. The work itself I really enjoy.
