Since 1875, St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital has been providing for the healthcare needs of the Effingham community and surrounding area. Three Hospital Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis from Germany began a healing ministry to serve the poor and the sick in a small rural Illinois community.
