St. Edward's is respectable, Student Life is unhelpful
Research/Teaching Assistant (Former Employee) – Austin, TX – January 29, 2018
I served as an event planner to the Multicultural Leadership Board at St. Edward's University (now called the Equity and Justice Council) and overall I had a very poor experience. My student and professional leaders were demanding, unhelpful, and harsh. They threw to-do lists at me without proper training for the tasks demanded (example: we were never properly trained to use the space booking website we used throughout the year). When I successfully threw an event, there was no appreciation given for my work or even helpful feedback. For the amount of hours I got paid, I worked overtime. The pay rate was simply insufficient for the labor and stress of putting together the details for all my events. The team environment was mostly positive, but it was clear nobody else was trained or satisfied in their roles. However, I do not believe that the toxicity of this department reflects upon the school overall.
Free food, team environment, fun events, social justice
Demanding, stressful, low pay, difficult managers
