St. Joseph's Hosptial is a great place to work
Department Secretary II - Radiology (Former Employee), Atlanta, GAAugust 18, 2014
Pros: excellent catholic culture
Cons: loss of some staff benefits (i.e. spanish classes, tuition reimbursement) due to country's economic crisis
The Catholic care culture is evident to all upon entering this hospital. Everyone there is patient care centered and is kind and caring to each other. The staff in this hospital do not hesitate to go the extra mile for anyone. The management team is consistently trying to keep the staff happy. (Happy staff keep customers happy) The radiology staff work – more... very well together and are always ready to celebrate their successes. I truly enjoyed working with this team to make a difference in the lives of our patients and with each other. – less

St. Joseph's Medical Center
Registrar (Current Employee), Towson, MDAugust 14, 2014
Working at nights, I am able to work independently(which is a plus). However, being the only staff member after a certain time I am left with the previous staff's workload in addition to my own. Which was not a bad thing before SJMC united with UM. Since then the patient intake has increased to the point that my position is no longer effective with – more... only one person on shift. In addition, my current co-workers seem to think that the last hour of their shift is for sitting in the office on their phones or that they can leave early. Management has addressed the issue with the staff members, but is unwilling to follow through with any sort of consequence so the behavior does not cease. All in all, I love my job, but management (or lack there of) makes working here unbearable. – less

Healthcare is in my blood however, I'm becoming anemic.
Monitor Technician (Current Employee), Philadelphia, PAAugust 11, 2014
Pros: patients and some coworkers
Cons: some coworkers, pay scale, limited direct deposit, some friendships interfere with business decisions
A typical day at work starts by resetting alarms, observing the patients current condition on monitor with or, verses verbal report, writing a quick assessment and measuring strips, calling physicians and or nurses on an as needed basis by addressing the most critical patients first. I've learned to treat the patient and sometimes if not all the time, – more... stopping to say good morning or asking a patient how they feel becomes your best resources towards patients care and needs. Management attempts to to their job to the best of their ability despite the limitations and challenges. My coworkers are like family, some you like, some you don't but there's a job to do so and we do it regardless because patients come first. Sometimes death is the hardest part of the job and the most enjoyable part of the job is being part of a team that works collectively in saving lives. – less

professional place of employment where I can have gratification in my work
Histology Aide (Former Employee), Fort Wayne, INAugust 9, 2014
Pros: meeting new people, learning new things everyday, everyday different and enjoyable
Great people to work with. Enjoyed doing the work because it was important and gave me great satisfaction. I would retrieve specimens from all different areas of the hospital surgical departments and was always meeting new people. Would take specimens to our department and would input patient and specimen data into computer data system. Would answer – more... phones and retrieve and fax patient reports to various doctors and medical facilities throughout Ft.Wayne. The most enjoyable part of my job was that it was important and everyday was different. – less

Behavioral Health Social Worker (Current Employee), Syracuse, NYAugust 5, 2014
St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center in Syracuse, NY is a good place to work for. At Behavioral Health Outpatient, which is off site, the working environment is relaxed and friendly. Colleagues treat each other with respect and work well together. Management is interactive with employers.

Pros: learn to work by your self
Cons: health care, cost to much. i pay but not worth seening a doc.
clock in 6;53,
A typical day at work, well it starts with changing into scrubs, kitchen restock, echo, 4 cath lab rooms, scan, move to IR, scan. grab any dirty instruments. lunch. start to pull my orders, put aside, pull PACU, deliver, grab OR solution cart, take up my supplies to Cath Lab, IR. put away, restock solution cart, bring back to OR.
what – more... I have learned, well it is communication, on special order items.
management is fantastic. she will let me know what I have missed.
co-workers, are evening shift. no one is in cath lab when I get there.
hardest job, well learning all the special order items.

Night Shift was the time to work
Phlebotomist (Former Employee), Syracuse, NYAugust 3, 2014
This position was completely out of my experience of work. Although I caught on very fast and once I became good at it I thrived and moved on the night shift where I just perfected my craft. It was a very good job and I enjoyed working. I had to leave my position due to health reasons but it would be a position I would go back to if it ever was available.

Information Desk Assistant, Volunteer (Former Employee), Warren, OHJuly 24, 2014
St. Joseph Hospital was a wonderful place to work and learn. The volunteer program was set up so that teens are able to learn many basic skills in the work place. Everything from filing, answering phones, cleaning and helping others to more detailed positions such as cashier in the gift shop, working with cash and inventory.
