A fun place to work and a rewarding experience
Dietary Aide (Former Employee), Park Rapids, MNSeptember 11, 2014
Pros: a most rewarding job and a wonderful place to work.
Cons: it disturbed me when i felt that someone wasn't going out of there way for someone.
My day's at work were always enjoyable. I did what I was told and got along well with my co-workers. I didn't have much to do with the management as I was only part time and being so I did not get any of the perks that my other co-workers did. The hardest part of my job was the knowledge that I could not help everybody. The most enjoyable part was when – more... I went out of my way to help somebody and that they were so appreciative of what I did for them and my bright smile that I have. – less

A good place to work
CNA (Former Employee), Highland, ILSeptember 11, 2014
I enjoyed working here, I was cut down to PRN work because they were down sizing. The only reason I left was because I was a newer employee and it was going to be awhile before they could get me full time.

Certified Nurse Assistant (Former Employee), Eureka Ca.September 5, 2014
Pros: great learning experience
Cons: first job working nights and it was tough.
I worked on a Medical Surgical Floor and it was a great experience. I learned a great deal as this was my first hospital setting position. My management and co workers were extremely friendly and helpful. Patient loss was the hardest to deal with, but be able to help those who need help is quite fulfilling.

Patient Care Technician (Former Employee), Denver, COSeptember 5, 2014
Pros: free pizza on occasion for the night staff.
Cons: 12 hour shifts flew by most of the time, but enjoyed the position with the hours anyway.
I had very competent supervisors that I could count on as well as my co-workers. Great bunch of people I worked with and worked well with, excellent team work, assisted one another as needs arose and finished our work in a timely manner, with compassion and diligence, always.

Registration and Scheduling
Registration & Scheduling (Current Employee), London, KYSeptember 3, 2014
Pros: enjoyable atmosphere and co-workers
Cons: lack of challenge and room for growth
In my current position, my week is split between two different facilities. On two days a week, I work at the one of the off site heart clinic locations, where I coordinate, register and schedule patients for various types of heart and vascular testing. It is my job to act as liaison between technicians, in order to coordinate the process and allow their – more... flow to be smooth and efficient. I also work closely with the patients in addition to registering, maintaining their accounts, I inform them about the processes and go over the financial details with them.

On the other three days of the week, I work in the centralized scheduling department, at the St. Joseph hospital location. In this department, I schedule tests and procedures for patients, at the main hospital location as well as testing at the off sites.

My favorite part of my job is working in the clinic because it allows me to have a wider scope of responsibilities. I am very organized and enjoy taking on challenges and being able to use my skills to streamline processes and make things run smoothly. – less

St. Joseph's Hosptial is a great place to work
Department Secretary II - Radiology (Former Employee), Atlanta, GAAugust 18, 2014
Pros: excellent catholic culture
Cons: loss of some staff benefits (i.e. spanish classes, tuition reimbursement) due to country's economic crisis
The Catholic care culture is evident to all upon entering this hospital. Everyone there is patient care centered and is kind and caring to each other. The staff in this hospital do not hesitate to go the extra mile for anyone. The management team is consistently trying to keep the staff happy. (Happy staff keep customers happy) The radiology staff work – more... very well together and are always ready to celebrate their successes. I truly enjoyed working with this team to make a difference in the lives of our patients and with each other. – less

St. Joseph's Medical Center
Registrar (Current Employee), Towson, MDAugust 14, 2014
Working at nights, I am able to work independently(which is a plus). However, being the only staff member after a certain time I am left with the previous staff's workload in addition to my own. Which was not a bad thing before SJMC united with UM. Since then the patient intake has increased to the point that my position is no longer effective with – more... only one person on shift. In addition, my current co-workers seem to think that the last hour of their shift is for sitting in the office on their phones or that they can leave early. Management has addressed the issue with the staff members, but is unwilling to follow through with any sort of consequence so the behavior does not cease. All in all, I love my job, but management (or lack there of) makes working here unbearable. – less

Healthcare is in my blood however, I'm becoming anemic.
Monitor Technician (Current Employee), Philadelphia, PAAugust 11, 2014
Pros: patients and some coworkers
Cons: some coworkers, pay scale, limited direct deposit, some friendships interfere with business decisions
A typical day at work starts by resetting alarms, observing the patients current condition on monitor with or, verses verbal report, writing a quick assessment and measuring strips, calling physicians and or nurses on an as needed basis by addressing the most critical patients first. I've learned to treat the patient and sometimes if not all the time, – more... stopping to say good morning or asking a patient how they feel becomes your best resources towards patients care and needs. Management attempts to to their job to the best of their ability despite the limitations and challenges. My coworkers are like family, some you like, some you don't but there's a job to do so and we do it regardless because patients come first. Sometimes death is the hardest part of the job and the most enjoyable part of the job is being part of a team that works collectively in saving lives. – less

professional place of employment where I can have gratification in my work
Histology Aide (Former Employee), Fort Wayne, INAugust 9, 2014
Pros: meeting new people, learning new things everyday, everyday different and enjoyable
Great people to work with. Enjoyed doing the work because it was important and gave me great satisfaction. I would retrieve specimens from all different areas of the hospital surgical departments and was always meeting new people. Would take specimens to our department and would input patient and specimen data into computer data system. Would answer – more... phones and retrieve and fax patient reports to various doctors and medical facilities throughout Ft.Wayne. The most enjoyable part of my job was that it was important and everyday was different. – less
