Responsible for translating business needs into detailed requirements, needs assessments, and business cases, and work with appropriate technical teams to define and implement solutions in an effort to align information technology with customer and district initiatives.
Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or a related field and four years of business analysis experience. (Equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered).

A civil service test will be administered to create an eligible list of candidates for this classified civil service position. Once created, the list will be used for other Business Analyst vacancies that may occur for one year.
The test will be administered after the job posting closes and all applications are screened. you will be notified by Human Resources of the test by email.

You will be notified of the results of the Training and Experience Questionnaire examination through email. Candidates who pass the questionnaire examination with a score of at least 75% will be contacted regarding the date and time of the Oral Interview examination. Candidates who pass BOTH examinations will be contacted regarding interview with the hiring manager.
****Note - Depending on the applicant pool, our office may or may not issue the Oral interview portion of the exam.
The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following fundamental duties:
Elicit requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, task and workflow analysis.
Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs.
Produce professional quality project artifacts including but not limited to business requirement documents, functional requirements documents, business cases, requirement plans, models (e.g. data, event, context and process), traceability matrices, use cases, issue logs and other documents as needed.
Serve as a conduit between the customer community (internal and external customers) and the technology team/vendors throughout the project life cycle
Participate in the development of test plans, test conditions, test scripts and test cases
Assist with project management under the direction of IT Project Manager(s). Tasks include project planning and coordination, communication to diverse internal and external audiences, and oversight of implementation to ensure completion in an effective manner within project deadlines and budgets.
Collaborate with internal users to enhance and/or develop system solutions to organizational requirements; identify creative and logical options to solve client needs/problems while addressing technical and organizational suitability.
Consult with coworkers and other department staff requesting services to discuss preferences, methods of production, budgetary, scheduling, and production requirements.
Develop relationships with community stakeholders to build and maintain trust, transparency and cooperation.
Represent the IT Department in meetings with representatives of other District departments, vendors, and professional/public agencies.
Contribute to the District's Strong Schools, Strong Communities efforts by partnering with other staff to contribute to student achievement and the alignment and sustainability of resources.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Pay,Benefits, & Work Schedule
This is a 12 month position working 40 hours per week.
Salary and benefits are in accordance with the Professional Employees Association (PEA) negotiated labor agreement. The labor agreement and salary schedule can be found at http://hr.spps.org/Labor_Agreements.html. The minimum rate of pay for this position is $56,470 annually.
