A very stable employer and concerned about their staff
Registered Nurse (Former Employee), Green Bay, WI – April 18, 2013
Pros: time with my young child
Cons: evening shift
A typical work day would be for me to arrive at work and report to the nurse staffing area. There I would find out my assisgnment for the evening. I would then gather my things and report to that particular department. I would receive report and then care for a patient load just like any one of the other regular staff members. My manager was wonderful – more... and very flexible to the needs of her staff. The people I worked with changed every day, but everyone was always so appreciative of the help were provided. The hardest part is you always worked some place different nearly every shift. The most enjoyable part was it gave me time with my family. – less

Pros: making sure all the people i come in contact with or please with what i done.
Cons: when patients die.
Helping people with there daily living. I learn everybody is different. Management can be better. I get along with most, but everybody is different. Watching family of the patient lose their love one. Seeing the the patient that was worst off make it through.

It is a very fast and fun environment to work in.
Patient Transporter (Former Employee), Indianapolis, IN – April 12, 2013
Pros: we recieved discounts on our lunches.
Cons: we did a lot of walking daily.
My day at work would consist of me transporting patients from one area to the next. I would learn new and easier ways to transport patients daily. The management is excellent. My co-workers were all fun and hardworking. The hardest part of the job was seeing the patients in so much pain. The most enjoyable part of the job was see the patients getting – more... well and leaving to go home. – less

Would recommend St. Vincents Hospital
Medical Surgical Nurse Educator (Current Employee), Birmingham, AL – April 10, 2013
Pros: we are growing
Cons: we need more space to grow!!
A typical day at work in education is a day where I am called to the floor to help with a new piece of equipment, assist with policy/procedure update, have a meeting or two, work with new orientees.

I have learned much since moving to education. I enjoy the fast pace of hospital nursing.

I have a leadership role in education but I am not a supervisor – more... of anyone (unless i am working in the nursing office) so I use this neutrality to help staff be more comfortable with me when any need or issue comes up.

I enjoy working with my peers. I work with very intelligent people who have more experience than me most of the time.

The most difficult part of my job is being able to complete the task that I have set out to do within a specified time frame. I tend to over extend myself and find that daylight runs out far too soon!

The most enjoyable part of my job is that I am able to impact the care of patients while helping nurses and support staff to understand their job and allow them to learn at their own pace. – less

It is a fun place to work and grow as a person as I get to interact and help people from day to day.
PCA (Current Employee), Center Point,AL – March 9, 2013
I work evening shift,I come in and take vitals signs, give baths, and tend to patients needs. I have learned to open up, to grow as an individual and to be comfortable talking and communicating with total strangers and even forming bonds with patients and their families. My co-workers are great, I couldn't ask for a better crew to be involved with and – more... the teamwork and effort we all put in each day is excellent and makes the evenings flow smoothly. The hardest part about my job is the strain it puts on my body, lifting and moving people around constantly. The most enjoyable, is getting to know my patients and making new friends and just knowing what a blessing it is to help people in need. – less

Dedicated and caring hospital.
Data entry information from EOB (Former Employee), Frankfort, IN – March 1, 2013
Pros: respectful, kind and considerated people.
Cons: not any that i can think of.
The employees of this hospital was the most respectful and dedicated group of people that I have had the pleasure of working with. Everyone was respectful and kind to the patients and co-workers. I have made friends there that have lasted through out the years. They have placed in me core values that I take with me in everything I do.

Great place to start as a new nurse
Licensed Practical Nurse (Current Employee), Indianapolis Indiana – February 24, 2013
Pros: benefits, coworkers, and patients
Cons: short breaks
My co workers are the best thing about my department, than my patients. Hardest part of my job is the noncompliance in patients, and sometimes lack of respect I receive after hard work I do for them. 13 hours of hard work, but always worth it.

No training
Nurse Manager (Former Employee), Jacksonville- Riverside – January 28, 2013
Pros: compensation and benefits
Cons: hours, poor training and education
The typical day was very long, I was expected to be on-call 24/7 and never had a moment to myself. Compensation and benefits were good, however, I was hired with the knowledge I needed training, my immediate director offered me everything there was available... The organization didn't offer training for my position. My director tried her best but I – more... had to resign. – less
