Unarmed Security Officer, Durham, NC - June 20, 2015
A typical day with Staff One varies depending on which event I'm working. So for this purpose I'll talk about an East Carolina University football game. I am responsible for signing in all the staff members and issuing out their uniforms; which could be several hundred people. Once everyone is signed in I assume responsibility as security guard and I go to gate 6 to work security. I check people and bags for contraband, weapons, alcohol, etc. I remain at gate 6 for the duration of the game until there is about 5-10 minutes left of the game, then I proceed to go back to the sign in area and get ready to sign out all the employees, receive their uniforms back and calculate each employees hours for payroll. So that's a typical day of ECU football for me. I learn so much every time I work, whether it be a new way to do something at sign in to how to handle a situation in the crowd. My supervisors are awesome and very easy to talk to and my co-workers are a pleasure to work with. The hardest part of the job are dealing with intoxicated people; the most enjoyable is being able to experience new events and work in different areas than the average person is not allowed to go.
