Great skill-building call center environment
Consumer Receivables Management (Former Employee), Grand Junction, COJune 4, 2013
Cons: great benefits, and unlimited overtime, advancement encouraged
A typical shift at Startek was completely smooth everyday. Scheduled breaks, and back-to-back incoming calls. I enjoyed the consistency in my day. Full-time only employees. I learned many customer service techniques, and developed an entirely new skill set in the customer relations field. The hardest part of the job was problem just sitting in one place, – more... so I did enjoy my breaks because I like to get up and move around every once in a while. The most enjoyable was the great team, and the strive to meet daily goals and call statistics. – less

Customer service Representitive (Former Employee), Alexandria, LAJanuary 11, 2013
Pros: rewards given by company for good job performances
A typical day at Startek was very energetic and talkative. I learned a lot about phone companies and the value and importance of good credit. Management did a exceptional job of making sure that your well very informed on the company policies and the knowledge that was required for good job performance.Co-workers were very nice and easy to get along – more... with. Most valued team work and were eager to help when someone was lost or had questions about job requirements. The hardest part of the job and, i think with any job that deal with public or customer service, is dealing with rude and/or angry customers in a professional manner. The most enjoyable part of the job was having a pleased and satisfied customer. knowing that I helped someone with problem or concern in any area was a very rewarding feeling. – less

Customer Service Representative (Former Employee), Lynchburg, VAJuly 11, 2012
Pros: rewards for making excellent scores.
My day was from 8-4:30 taking inbound calls and assisting customers with their issues or doing outbound calls to customers or sales representatives to assist in getting accounts set up correctly under the proper plan.I learned about telecommunications and dealing with customers and their issues. The management was always willing to assist with any issues – more... I had. As for co-workers, we worked together as a team for the good of the company. The hardest part was when no matter what, the customer was still dissatisfied. I enjoyed working with the customers and helping them resolve their issues knowing I had helped make someone's day better. – less

Supervisor (Former Employee), Kingston, ONAugust 13, 2014
Pros: performance incentives, positive environment, opportunites for advancement.
Cons: various shifts, including overnight hours and working weekends.
I loved working for this company, as the environment and culture was great. I enjoyed the people who I worked with, as well as the opportunities for growth within the company. I enjoyed going to work each day, as I grew and learned something new daily. I was promoted twice within the company after showing hard work and demonstrating I was capable of – more... handling a management position, and excelling at it. I learned a lot about myself through failures and successes, and the operational management team was very supportive throughout my growth as a person and a professional. The hardest part about my job was having to issue corrective action when necessary, as having tough conversations with fellow employees can be challenging sometimes. The most enjoyable part of this job was the ability to have fun and be happy at work within a positive environment. There were a lot of incentives for performance not only from a management level, but also as a customer service representative. If I hadn't moved away for personal reasons, I would still be employed and loving it there today. – less
