Primary Responsibilities The Research Systems Specialist assists research staff in maintaining and accessing databases and performing basic research tasks, and provides administrative support to the department.
Manages the department’s communications, distributes mail, maintains departmental files, arranges meetings, copies and distributes documents.
Provides administrative support to department staff: orders supplies, makes travel arrangements, completes expense reports, and assists in preparing documents and presentations and is the point person for department record management.
Serves as the department’s interface with accounting: processes invoices, NDAs, and W9s, assists in preparing accruals and reforecasts, maintains vendor records, tracks expenditures by project, by category, and by type.
Serves as the research department liaison with IT regarding technology needs.
Assists with desktop publishing of presentations and reports.
Maintains the research information portal and department Sharepoint archives.
Enters program schedules into Nielsen’s MyEVNTS system twice weekly to meet Nielsen deadlines.
Maintains Tribune Media Services (TMS) database.
Runs overnight ratings reports and loads them into RIS (Ratings Information System).
Prepares monthly channel rankers and other regular reports as assigned; uploads reports to Intranet weekly.
Fulfills requests for reports from STE internal databases, i.e., PALS, Cognos, etc., as well as from syndicated database products.
Performs secondary research searches using the Internet, publications, and the Guideline service.
Coordinates requests to secondary research vendors as directed by research staff.
Track major movie premieres on all pay services and prepares monthly “Coming Soon” report.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
At least two years of media experience and one year of office experience; one or more years of working with Nielsen data and systems preferred.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and Powerpoint required; Access a plus). Experience with desktop publishing software a plus. Experience with Cognos and/or Omniture a plus.
Must have good time management skills and be able to work both individually and as part of a team.
Must be able to work quickly and accurately to produce materials in a timely manner.
Must have strong communications skills, both written and verbal.
