The Financial Services Division of the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services is seeking a highly organized person with high level of understanding of the importance of goal congruence within a division to coordinate the efforts of the Grants Management/Cost Accounting Unit.
Responsibilities will include the delegation and prioritization of work assignments to staff to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of the team. Develop and review processes and procedures to meet federal and state laws and regulations, and internal control guidelines. Responsible for maintaining the Department's Public Assistance Cost Allocation Plan. Identify additional federal funding opportunities. Responsibilities will also include timely and accurate financial reporting of agency grants.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, statistics, business administration or related field and two years experience leading, coordinating, directing, monitoring, and/or supervising others in the performance of accounting functions OR Associates degree in accounting, finance, statistics, business administration or related field and four years experience with professional accounting procedures; and experience leading, coordinating, directing, monitoring, and/or supervising others in the performance of accounting functions OR Six years experience with professional accounting procedures including developing public accounting systems, modifying public accounting systems, financial management consultation and experience leading, coordinating, directing, monitoring, and/or supervising others in the performance of accounting functions. PREFERRED: CPA or Masters degree in accounting, finance, statistics, business administration or related field. Experience with cost allocation practices and techniques used in grant administration. Grant Funding experience helpful.
Ability to supervise and direct the work of others, maintain good relationships with staff and public officials, evaluate situations and make sound decisions. Knowledge of accounting and auditing principles; state and federal public assistance laws; current social and economic problems. Willingness to accept new and rewarding opportunities to direct and effect change.
