STG Company Review
Information Security Consultant (Former Employee) –  Montgomery, ALJuly 29, 2017
It is a decent company to work for. I was not given good information about my full duties coming on board. I completed the assignment and then was tasked with a much more difficult task which I was not able to negotiate a reasonable salary for.

STG is struggling
Prior executive role (Former Employee) –  Reston, VAJuly 29, 2017
The Board is way too involved in the daily functioning and new bus efforts of the company. Would be great if they were helping, but they don't understand how Federal technology and science provider selections are made. Way too much redefining processes, briefing slides, territory "realignment", and giving orders. Too little doing the actual work, and making/sticking with good decisions. Company has history of being often litigious and not honoring commitments to partners. Several leaders in their roles because they're drinking buddies, not because they've personally achieved success. Spend their time on meaningless internal fighting and throwing ea other under the bus.
Pros
very few
Cons
poor leadership, immature behavior, poor decision making

STG strives to meet and exceed customer expectations.
Senior Technical Writer, Team Lead (Current Employee) –  Charleston, SCJuly 18, 2017
Supervising the development of work instructions, job aids and other collateral materials in support of the payroll conversion for the Department of State from an aging legacy system to the PeopleSoft HCM system.

Prioritizes tasks, facilitates meetings, and reports weekly on work accomplishments and/or issues to senior management.

Learning the very complex Oracle PeopleSoft HCM 9.2 Federal payroll system.

Developing work instructions to explain very complex technical data for the layman and training them on how to use this system to complete their daily tasks.

Great feeling of accomplishment when the people who will be using the new system "get it".
Pros
Allows employees to learn and develop new skills. No micromanagement. Do your job, keep the customer happy and management does not interfer in your daily work.
Cons
As any contracting firm supporting federal contracts, subject to contracts ending.

Corporate leadership is focused on acquisition and not employees
Supervisor (Current Employee) –  Reston, VAJuly 5, 2017
Not a place to go to work. Leadership is focused on acquisitions and what they can sell the company for in 3 years, not on employees or their welfare. I would not recommend it as a place to go to work.

None
Cons
Unenvolved leadership

Not a whole lot, site work at the Military base. Not a lot of entertainments around the base. Only walking and talking at the breaks. Feel like in military again

Government was the challenge, not the company
Business Analyst (Former Employee) –  Reston, VAJune 16, 2017
STG has many government contracts. The government is the challenge not the company. It was hard to get them to accept what was presented and implement. STG, Inc is a great company to work for with good benefits. Really no problems with them.
Pros
My work location was great.
Cons
None.

LAN / WAN Administrator (Former Employee) –  Fort Hood, TXMay 19, 2017
Not worth the trouble! They provide mediocre compensation and expect exceptional work. The management was not very understanding of family needs or requirements.

Run away!
Business Development (Former Employee) –  Reston, VAJanuary 31, 2017
No management worth talking about. They are busy throwing each other under the bus with constant finger pointing.
Lower level employees used as pawns in their game.
Pros
Good place if you are billable and not in their corporate location.
Cons
May get acquired or merge - causing uncertainty

Worker (Current Employee) –  DC - District of Columbia, DCNovember 22, 2016
The only qualm is that they are a government contractor, which means jobs are less secure feeling than when you work for other companies, depending on the contract you are on. Such is the contracting game.
