The regional grocer primarily operates along the Eastern Seaboard in states like New Jersey and New York. Found throughout major metropolitan areas, the supermarket provides immediate access to job opportunities – more... to millions of individuals seeking employment. – less

Productive easy work place. Stepping stone job
Font End/Night Crew (Current Employee), Cranston, RISeptember 30, 2014
Pros: breaks, money, benefits and making friends
Cons: the customer is always right policy, demerits you recieved years apart dont go away, playing favorites
A typical day at work would be based on what I would be doing that day. Cashier, I would clock in on time check the register area to see if everything is perfect for me to work at it. Clean the Register before any customers came. Check the draw to see if everything was in order. Made sure I had enough bags to bag groceries. Greet customers when they – more... came. Ask for their Stop n Shop card and ring and bag everything perfectly and efficiently! Bagger I would ask customers how they would like they bags and bag their groceries perfectly and efficiently. Carts I would always have the lot clear anytime! Before I punched out. Co workers were alright most of us are out of high school. Seems like some still have a lot to learn. Not about the job but about different people and life. Hardest part was dealing with angry customers. The most enjoyable part was being with my co-workers laughing, joking and working! – less

Typical retail environment.
Cash Office Assistant Manager (Current Employee), Flemington, NJSeptember 26, 2014
Pros: convenience
Cons: extremely limited advancement opportunities, fixed pay scale
I have worked at this company for ten years. During that time, I've been trained for (and have trained others for) every position on the front end, yet due to the limitations of closed-shop retail establishments, possibilities for advancement are slim-to-none. Management, while often complimentary of my performance, has no means to recognize it substantially. – more... As is typical in retail, turn-over is high, so my co-workers can change from month to month. Hardest part of the job: corporate and union bureaucracy. Most enjoyable: Co-workers and customers. – less

front end associate (Current Employee), Newington, CTSeptember 25, 2014
Pros: good co workers
Cons: management issues
My schedule working at stop and shop varied everyweek so it was either a hit or miss as to how my week was going to go.
I wish the management was more involved in employee feedback as to know what to improve on in the store.
