They avoid paying their share of your payroll taxes!
Recruiter (Former Employee) – Bohemia, NY – May 27, 2013
They won't pay your benefits such as FICA, Medicare, Soc Sec, etc. and keep you as a 1099 employee until you make "enough" money for them by placing three nurses for them (but sometimes they want more than three nurses). You work for free until you place your first nurse and even then, they keep you as a 1099 employee until you place and maintain your third nurse and avoid paying their share of your payroll taxes! If you have three or more nurses and a nurse falls off and you are down to two or less nurses, they again make you a 1099 employee and stop paying your payroll taxes. NYS DOL and IRS have been alerted.
