The purpose of this position is to lead the web strategy and development for the company's clients. The Web Developer and Strategist will lead the design and development of custom online strategies and web properties intended to engage audiences and foster online communities. This position will work collaboratively with our clients to determine key audiences and user needs and recommend tools, strategies, tactics, and features that will help drive measurable results. This position will lead the discovery and planning around each project and work with clients on developing strategic approaches to marketing, campaigns, fundraising, e-commerce, and mobile audience engagement. This position may include opportunities to take part in assisting in the areas of social media marketing, search marketing, and digital media. The Web Developer and Strategist will have the opportunity to work with the company’s business development and management team in creating proposals around web strategies for current and prospective clients. Further, this position will provide hands on involvement in the execution of all approved strategies.

Essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Write the programming code for web based applications either from scratch or by adapting existing website software and graphics packages to meet business requirements
  • Test websites and identify any technical problems
  • Upload website onto a server and register it with different search engines
  • Provide maintenance, improvement, reporting, and performance analysis of client websites
  • Work with clients and internal team members to perform front-end and back-end website development as well as website analytics and e-mail statistics reporting
  • Optimize client websites and e-mail alerts for mobile devices
  • Develop and manage competitive site analysis/gap analysis as needed
  • Create and manage taxonomy/nomenclature lists and definitions for all sites/assets
  • Manage the assessment, cataloguing, email server, and organization of website content (content inventory) for all sites, including public domain sites and intranet/portal sites
  • Other duties as assigned

Competencies and Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • Integrated content management system experience
  • Front-end web development experience (XHTML, CSS, Javascript, etc.)
  • Back-end web development experience (PHP and MySQL, etc.)
  • Linux – Cent OS or similar / Apache
  • Experience with responsive web development for successful cross-platform websites
  • Experience with basic SQL queries
  • Google analytics experience or experience with other analytics software
  • Strong Microsoft Office experience, especially Excel for stats reporting
  • Strong search engine optimization skills

  • eCommerce development and management experience
  • Mobile application development
  • Video editing abilities and/or experience
  • Information architecture strategy development and implementation experience
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.)
  • Experience with open source CMS platforms (Wordpress, Drupal, Joomla, etc.)
  • Proficient in Ruby on Rails
