Lead and direct the materials management and production scheduling functions providing long-term planning to support company objectives for on-time delivery, inventory management, supplier delivery, and equipment utilization through the manufacturing and distribution facilities. Identify and develop programs which offer business performance improvement opportunities, including the review of current business processes. Implement best practices to optimize and improve the quality of deficient business processes. Functional areas of accountability include:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES
Position the Company for growth and vitality through the use of APICS proven practices to improve the effectiveness of the inventory management and production scheduling functions and to improve the measured value of the supply function in the operating business units of the company.
Develops issues and monitors company policies and practices that meet the organizational objectives for direct and indirect materials and supplies used in the supply channel activities of the company to achieve timely manufacturing flow of products.
Develops and monitors metrics to measure performance to identify supplier bottlenecks and constraints. Works individually and with others in development of programs aimed at solving potential materials related issues to improve inventory turns across the supply chain.
Maintains managerial relationships of the highest order by encouraging and providing a timely, two-way flow of the information required for effective decision making by superiors, peers, and subordinates.
Develops specific annual inventory objectives for each category of material, and assists in the management of those categories to ensure corporate policies and practices are consistently followed, or effectively modified to promote improved inventory practices and results.
Assists Operations, Sales, Marketing, and Technical department personnel to analyze excess and “non-moving” stock, and ensures action plans are carried out and product is effectively handled.
Monitors material disposition effort, write-offs, and other ancillary inventory adjustments to ensure the root cause for the out-of-balance condition is identified. Considers financial implication with inventory adjustments, and keeps management apprised of major causes and action plans implemented to correct deficient conditions.
Defines inventory tracking practices which assures accurate information is provided to all user units, and which promotes the development of synchronous flow activity.
Ensures practices are developed and followed to control off-site inventory and customer provided materials required for further manufacturing effort.
Establishes policies and procedures, coordinates, directs, and audits related buyer/planner supply activities: distribution sites physical inventories and cycle counting. Performs root cause analysis to prevent line shortages as a result of inaccurate records/practices. Fosters continuous improvement philosophies within the company and distribution service providers.
Works with the CFO to assure aggregate inventory management plans are established and executes control to meet established plans.
Responsible for monitoring and meeting objectives concerning order fill rates, inventory turns/levels, and cross-shipment dollars.
Works diligently with sales and marketing personnel to understand the changing demands of the customers and the marketplace. Recommends programs which improve the businesses effectiveness in meeting or exceeding the market requirements. Implements value based programs that provide long-term viability to the business and promotes a positive image of a forward reaching organization.
Establishes, implements, and maintains corporate policies, procedures, and communications that will ensure that the materials management function is carried out legally, efficiently, and professionally throughout all business entities.
Communicates fully with all personnel who have a need to know in a way that is timely, complete, concise, and accurate.
Manage and lead the buyer/planner function in order to assure proper replenishment of materials with lowest possible inventories to meet the requirements of the operations areas and customer requirements.
Develops and implements buyer/planner cross training to assure effective coverage.
Participates in daily strategic meetings to ensure continuity and opportunities for improvement are captured and addressed systematically.
Directs the timely compilation of forecast provided to raw materials suppliers.
Develops, implements and leads weekly SIOP process and meetings (Sales, Inventory, Ops and Planning)
Bachelor’s degree, with specialization in Material Management, Operations, or Supply Chain Management preferred
7+ years materials experience/3+ years supervisory experience
APICS, CPIM certification and demonstrated use of the body of knowledge
Proven background in supply chain, materials management and lean manufacturing (six sigma or kaizen accreditation a plus)
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, proven in a manufacturing environment
In-depth knowledge of ERP systems (manufacturing, materials management, production planning, procurement and distribution) and a superior understanding of manufacturing material flow in a plant
MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook)
