Assistant Manager (Former Employee), Mcallen, TX – November 24, 2013
Pros: room for advancement, learn to further develop leadership skills
Cons: demands too much time to run the store effectively, long meetings on a weekly basis, supervisors dont always have time to interview new employees
While this job is not for everyone, it does have its perks just like any other. I got to learn how to read financials and improve the store areas that were hurting when running a store as a Manager for over 2 years. I also learned how to develop and talk to employees to better encourage their improvement on daily task completions. Room for advancement – more... is always available; however, a huge downside is schedules change almost on a daily basis, employees call in and double shifts occur more often during holidays. Many things to do kinda offset the starting minimum wage pay for entry level employees. – less

Pros: being able to have onwership in a site that i helped build from the ground up.
Cons: no breaks, no days off, long 20 hour days to get staffed and efficient.
Responsible for the day to day operations of the store, from customer service, inventory, ordering, receiving, scheduling, hiring, production and overall maintenance of site. The most enjoyable part of this job was opening the store for business, working with construction to ensure quality finish in all aspects of the store. Hiring the initial staff, – more... handpicking the winners for my team and creating a dynamic atmosphere within the site for my company. The hardest part of this job was leaving it. I learned a lot from this company from watching the ground break to opening day as far as project management and attention to details. – less
Assistant Manager (Former Employee), Odessa, TX – October 31, 2013
Pros: fast paced
Cons: few incentives
I would go in and assign tasks for the day to employees. Check and see where the store was and what needed to be done to to get it customer ready for the next business day. I would aid employees on tasks such as taking out trash, making food items, cleaning, etc. Finally my day would end when I would close out for the day and collect all money from – more... the safe and place in the office. This included closing out registers, money order, prepaid services, lottery, and then restarting these systems on a new day. – less

Customer Service/Sales Associate (Current Employee), Corpus Christi, TX – October 4, 2013
Pros: 7 hour work days.
Cons: no set break schedules.
When you show up to work you are relieving the other worker who is on duty. You spend your day working the register and cleaning the store. The most enjoyable part of the job was working with the customers and seeing the "regulars" come in. Hardest part of the job would be standing the whole shift but buying some good shoes definitely helps get through – more... the day. – less
Sales associate (Former Employee), Lawton, OK – September 30, 2013
Pros: new people, friendly co-workers
Cons: low pay, poor hours.
In a typical day of work, we had many happy, and unhappy customers we had to deal with, while continuing to stick to policy. My managers had a lot to handle, so our job was to take as much off of them as possible, the hardest part of my job was trying to manage a budget with low hours, and low pay, and then eventually having to leave. While the most – more... enjoyable part, was dealing with new people everyday. – less
Sales Associate (Former Employee), Roswell, NM – September 19, 2013
Stripes was a actually a fun job .I would usually go in at around 2 and get off around 11:30 pm. Working on the weekends was really busy ,.You would have one customer after another until you practically were done with your shift. The General manager was a nice fun person to work with.
Assistant Manager (Current Employee), Colorado City, TX – September 10, 2013
Pros: one 15 min smoke break every two hours
I go clock in start looking to see what needs to be done in the store that the shift before didn't have time to get to an start working to improve the image of the store. I learned to cook, do isle resets, use pdi systems, fill safe, and management skills.
Sales Associate (Former Employee), Edinburg, TX – August 27, 2013
Pros: free soda if you brought your own cup
Cons: no breaks, no free food, everybody would blame everybody, there was no team work effort
An average day would start to punch in and count the register and make coffee it would be morning rush. Customers would buy gas and food and tacos. I learned that I make really good sales associate and i am a hard worker and when Im determined i can do anything. The main thing i didn't like was the management wasn't the most organized in the past almost – more... 2 yrs I had 5 different managers so i think that says a lot about a company. Co-workers were okay for the most part just a lot of co-workers were not the best citizens in the the world some had gang tattoos and were on probation , which actually frightened me a little. The hardest part of my job is probably when I realized that one day a person can put a gun to my head for the money on the register and I told myself that its not worth it. The part I enjoyed the most was probably paycheck day of course and when I learn about people for example this customer worked at a jail so his taco was wrapped in clear plastic and not foil and how another customer would take take her creamers in a little brown bag for later instead of putting it in coffee. – less
