Mount Miguel Covenant Village (Spring Valley, California), part of a nation wide family of CARF-CCAC accredited CCRC's: Covenant Retirement Communities, 5th largest AAHSA Ziegler Top 100, is seeking a full time Certified Nursing Assistant to work the night shift. The purpose of this position is to provide direct daily care to residents at the skilled nursing level of care according to standard procedures and established State and Federal regulations for skilled nursing facilities.
The successful candidate will have:
- Some high school education, required.
- Successful completion of a state approved training program for certified nurse assistants, required.
- Previous experience in long term care, preferred
This position reports directly to the charge nurse and may also take direction from licensed nurses on duty. This position provides direct care to residents on a daily basis according to established methods and techniques. This position assists in the safety, comfort and well-being of residents. In performance of duties, the Certified Nurse Assistant is entrusted to assist residents with basic personal care according to procedures and daily assignment. This includes but is not limited to bathing, dressing, dental hygiene, toilet activities, grooming, feeding, etc. Assist in providing nutrition to residents. Prepare residents meals, assist with passing meal trays and feeding of residents. Observe and report changes in resident eating habits. Assist with the movement and ambulation of residents and in prescribed rehabilitation procedures such as range of motion, activities of daily living and positioning. Take and record vital signs; blood pressure and weight; record intake and output in an accurate and precise manner and report to nurse according to procedure. Perform other testing as directed. Observe on an ongoing basis resident conditions including, mental state and general well being, changes in residents’ physical conditions, and report to the nurse when appropriate. Respond to residents emergency call signals; observe resident conditions and summon nurse when appropriate. Assist in maintaining resident rooms in a clean and orderly manner by making beds, changing linen, putting away clothing and personal effects, tidying bedside table, shelves, and closets, etc. Help in transporting residents to and from activities, devotions, meals, physical therapy, etc. Provide general support and comfort to residents. Assist in the admission, orientation and transfer of residents. Participate in the orientation and training of new certified nurse assistants, and assist other staff with difficult procedures. Observe and report needed repair and service to equipment. Use proper sanitary and aseptic techniques and conform to standard proper hygiene, grooming and appropriate uniform.
Must be able to communicate effectively in English with residents and staff. Must be able to read and write English in order to maintain proper records. The position requires good interpersonal skills. The ability to understand and show compassion and patience to senior adults is essential. Must be dependable, have good judgment and initiative.
