Mount Miguel Covenant Village (Spring Valley, California), part of a nation wide family of CARF-CCAC accredited CCRC's: Covenant Retirement Communities, 5th largest AAHSA Ziegler Top 100, is seeking a part time Maintenance Helper . This position is responsible for general assistance for the maintenance department. All work is directed through work orders from the Maintenance Supervisor. This position is accountable for trash pick-up, replacement of burned out light bulbs, setups and furniture moves, and various work orders
The successful candidate will have:
- High school diploma or equivalent, required.
- Some maintenance experience, preferred.
- Valid California driver’s license, required.
This position reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor and is routine in nature. This position respectfully interacts with all residents, family members, visitors and co-workers, and maintains a positive customer service relationship practicing honesty and integrity in all aspects of job performance. In performance of duties, the Maintenance Helper works on routine maintenance work orders as instructed by Maintenance Supervisor. Picks up trash throughout the campus as needed. Keeps trash receptacle areas clean. Sets up and takes down chairs and tables for special functions as directed. Replaces burned out light bulbs throughout the campus as needed. Follows through on all established preventative maintenance and maintains appropriate records under guidance of the Maintenance Systems Manager or Maintenance Supervisor. Assists residents with relocating from one apartment to another when instructed. Changes and cleans filters, changes smoke detector batteries as per preventative maintenance work orders. Makes name tags and door plates on engraving machine as instructed. Works on minor plumbing, electrical and carpentry work orders. Responds to all work orders by completion or contacting residents or staff within two working days. Sets up TV and VCRs for residents. Closes out all work orders with written description and turns into Facilities Management Coordinator. Assists senior maintenance staff with testing procedures. Performs other related duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor or Director of Facilities Management.
The position requires the ability to communicate effectively in English with residents and staff. The position must also be able to read and write English well in order to maintain records. The position requires a person who as a good mechanical aptitude and an interest in learning all phases of maintenance. The individual should be able to work with minimal supervision at times. Some background in plumbing, electrical and carpentry would be helpful.
