They do not pay their employee's
RN (Current Employee), Seattle, Wa – May 14, 2013
Cons: they do not pay you on time, have many excuses why.
I have been an independent contractor for 2 years and have never worked for a company that expects so much from you. Than they don't pay you on time. Than the next pay period, they have another excuse for not paying you. For being a national company across the United States, there is no excuse for this.
Don't work for this company.

PT Health Coach
Health Technician and Health Coach (Current Employee), Michigan – May 3, 2013
Cons: read review
So, I've worked with Summit Health for several years, and thought very highly of them. Then, I ran into a few Summit employees who recommended other companies to work with as well. I never thought to work with other Wellness companies as I've always been a loyal Summit staff and thought no one would be better. I'm not saying Summit is a bad company, – more... but to be honest, they're nothing compared to other Wellness organizations. After working with a couple other companies, I felt like a rookie. I worked with a company who provided specific training according to my job at prior to each event, while another had specific protocols per the clients request and a training call with the client prior to working. Unlike Summit, these companies were very organized, can handle not only pods but multiple stations that can take as high as 50+ participants in an hour with not very minimal staff. I got a chance to work in one of these big events for a week, and I thought we were going to be in trouble for being understaffed. It was a very busy event, and I was amazed at how fluid each participant went station to station and having no long lengthy waits for each participant. Also a big bonus for bigger pay range from $25 - $40, which Summit can't beat....So with that said for those who work with Summit, I suggest moonlighting with other companies too :) – less

Summit health doesn't pay their nurses on time
Clinic Nurse (Current Employee), Panama city,fl – April 22, 2013
Pros: none that i have seen yet!
Cons: they don't pay their workers on time if at all!
I have worked one clinic back in March of this year....used the portal on my phone, entered all nformation including evaluation, odometer reading and such. I should have been paid on the 8th of April...it's now the 22nd and still no pay. Payroll is a joke they don't return or answer their calls. Beginning to think that the workers need to file a lawsuit – more... against this company...no excuse to not pay your workers who actually are doing the clinical work! – less

Insightful and varied
Health Screener/ Wellness Counselor (Current Employee), Knoxville, TN – March 10, 2013
Doing an event for summit is rewarding and allows for interaction woithout teh lcincial setting. Many event locations allows us to have a better view of client needs than clinical settings and get a better vunderstanding of what can be an overall health risk. Its wonderful to be able to gain insights.

Troubles getting paid
Biometric Screener/Lead (Current Employee), Various – December 29, 2012
To any of you out there who are thinking of working with Summit Health, I have been with them for about 1 1/2 years. They have growing rapidly this year, meaning pleanty of work out there...but, I have had to fight tooth and nails to get paid. And still have only been paid for about half of the events I've worked. You pay for your mileage and meals – more... up front, so if you have to travel it gets quite expensive. And, keep in mind you might not get paid back no matter how many phone calls or emails you make. Because of this I would have given the company an overall rating of 1 star, but the system wouldn't let me. They also expect you to keep boxes and boxes of supplies that you have to lug around with you from event to event. I mean 15-20 bigh boxes. So difficult to use that car you have that gets good gas mileage. Also, you are not paid for the extra time you put in for administrative dutes unless you want your paycheck (if you actually get it) delayed.
That being said there are other companies out there that are MUCH better to work for. They actually pay you without having to fight for it. – less

LasVegas – January 8, 2013

I just got hired at Summit Health and I didnt like how they manage it!Poor management! First theres a lot of opening for an event but every time I requested to work for an event it always said its already unavailable!? What the hell?! Over 40+ events that I already requested to work on but all of it came out unavailable!I tried to email the people who's in charge of the event and NONE of them reply to my email. I wish Cigna didnt sell their company to Summit Health!! I never ever had a problem working with Cigna!

Traveling to lcations to work Biometric Health Screening and corp. testing and vaccinations.
RN (Current Employee), Novi, MI – November 24, 2012
Pros: hotel says, meal allowance, mileage reimbursement.
Cons: getting in from traveling to site and having 4 hrs. to sleep before next clinic.
Jobs are posted on your work porthole, which you can select to work. You travel to locations, working one to five days, within that site. You draw blood from employee's, take BP, HR, BMI, lipid profile, etc. Then put all data together and preform a one on one counseling with the client. I may also administer needed vaccinations, ID test, and other health – more... awareness interventions. Patient/client privacy is well guarded at all times.
The hardest part of job comes when you have booked your schedule tightly and travel is daily and long. This is also a enjoyable part of the job, seeing new places and meeting many people. Thus, balance of the schedule is very important so that you can be on your best for each and every client.
I am looking to stay more local at this time though, as I am moving to a new state. I do have RN licenses in over 20 states, but prefer to stay within a 200 mile radios for now. – less

Portal, not porthole. A porthole is on a ship. Too much traveling for no travel pay (for your hours) and only 41 cents a mile for gas and wear and tear on your vehicle.

Worst paying of similar companies, horrid management.
Health Screener (Current Employee), Southwest USA – November 22, 2012
Pros: flexibility
Cons: pay, management
This company would be good to work for if they had fair wages and better management. As it is, they have no official pay scale and low ball you - so that college educated or licensed health care staff (LPNs & RNs) often end up earning less than high school graduates, CNAs, phlebotomists, etc. There is no chance of an increase. And the management, from – more... the top of the company to the "team leads" are just awful. – less

Does not pay as advertise and per contract terms.
LPN (Former Employee), Seattle, WA – October 25, 2012
Cons: not paying as agreed
I worked for Summit and when it came time for my first pay, I did not get either in direct deposit or paycheck. When I attempted to call the 2 payroll numbers both boxes were full. And call to the staffing coordinator and the Lead coordinator were not returned.

I later reach the Lead coordinator on his cell phone at the end of the day, and his excuse – more... was that payroll was running 2-3 weeks behind on invoices. Apparently you get paid when the company you work for pays its invoice.

In following in some back and forth emails I told them I wanted to be paid for all my hours, their response was they wanted equipment back and then they would pay me, as I had quit the same day I was dur to get my first check. I told them I would not continue to put out my money not knowing when i was going to get paid. It requires a lot of driving and gas is not cheap as you know.

That was on the 12th of October and it is now October 25.,and I am taking another route with them. I had also talk to other nurses here in Seattle with the same problem. – less

Summit has not paid me for my work during the first week of October. Their excuse was company running 2-3 weeks behind on payroll. Not reliable for primary job concerning pay. You'll sink in bills. Good as secondary job. Company shouldn't advertise as bi-weekly pay if they can't live up to that, even if it means staying overtime to process payroll or hiring extra employees.

Unpaid – November 22, 2012

Summit brags about it's 2-week pay policy, and claims they pay faster than any other company in the field. The problem is, they don't pay you within the 2-week time frame, and always have an excuse. Then they act like you have a problem if you complain. You cannot reach payroll, and the telephone numbers and emails they provide get you nowhere. They will pay you ... eventually ... but never within the time frame promised. If you want to get paid on time, this is not the place to work.

Unpaid – December 19, 2012

Just wondering if you were ever paid?

If you are a medical professional and college educated, do not work here. Your regional supervisor will be a high school graduate with a certificate from a technical college. Your team leads may be high school drop outs, short order cooks, and retail clerks. None of these people are effective managers, supervisors, or team leads. In fact, they can be downright awful at their job - but if you mention your concerns to management, you get fired - not the terrible managers/leads. They prefer uneducated yes men who don't expect to get paid for all time worked and who will never ask questions. They don't care if these managers treat everyone under them like imbeciles, or if these managers break every rule you are expected to follow. As long as they are an obedient worker bee, anything goes. Not a good place to work if you expect to be treated with courtesy and respect, or have your credentials recognized.

Health Screener (Current Employee), Southfield, MI – August 28, 2012
This company tends to have a fair amount of work. I do like the single station work. Don't like the way equipment is delivered to events. Though do like that they have changed how to report hours and mileage. Also like their direct deposit. Hard to get a raise with the company. Management is usually good to work with. Overall a good company to work – more... for. – less
