Tanning Consultant (Former Employee) – Hastings, NE – October 4, 2016
I loved working for Sun Tan City. It was my first time working in sales and I learned so much while also building my communication skills. The management was great and there was never any drama between coworkers. The hardest part of the job was managing my time on a slow day. I loved seeing people's faces and talking with people about our product so it was pretty rough for me to make it through a whole day when not many people were coming in to the salon. The best part about the job were the people, not just who i worked with, but also getting to see and talk to so many people every day was always a blast.
Salon Director (Former Employee) – Spring Hill, TN – August 10, 2016
Great job for younger employees without much other responsibility. Free tanning and great product discounts for employees. As management, there is a time spent working on your "off" days when there are staffing issues, but that varies depending on the staff that is in place. There is a lot of customer service involved and you must be an outgoing person to make sales. Fun environment to work in!
Able to take break whenever timing is right (not scheduled), free tanning, not stuck sitting/standing in one place
sometimes it's too busy to take a break and understaffed at times
Salon Director (Current Employee) – Springfield, MO – July 26, 2016
I have done everything with this company however there are no further advancements at this time. Salon commissions are constantly being cut. Policies don't apply to every employee the same. Open every holiday besides Christmas day
Amazing clients, great prices, great products, salon culture is positive
No breaks or lunches, no set schedule, work every weekend, the company makes more money but bonuses are contstanly being cut
Tanning Consultant (Former Employee) – Ames, IA – July 23, 2016
This job was awesome! It was fast paced and rewarding relationships with the customers, who learned about you and vice versa. Except the manager at the time was the absolute worst person I have ever worked with. She would yell at me and other employees in front of the customers for absurd reasons. She was very inappropriate around the customers and even to the customers. She always broke the rules but would punish and write up any employee that did the same. However, I did learn from this job how to be a better multitasker and deal with hard situations in the work environment.
Salon Director (Current Employee) – Huntington, WV – September 10, 2016
If you are a great sales person and have leadership skills you will get promotions very fast with the company! I have a total of 16 months under my belt with the company, I started as a tanning consultant and now am a salon director.
Sales bonuses, commmision pay on top of base pay
only gain 3.7 hours of pto every 2 weeks Takes 6 months to earn 1 week off.
When receiving the job I was well aware of the fact I was expected to sell. "Sell, sell, sell". I would never refer a person to this company for the simple reason, you get paid little to nothing, they expect more than they give out. If you don't sell enough or meet a certain quota, expect to get written up and after so many write ups, you will lose your job!
CUSTOMER SERVICE & SALES CONSULTANT (Former Employee) – Frankfort, KY – October 16, 2016
Working with other . Customer service was our main goal . Making every person feel special each day. Showing them all the new products that will result in their best results in the tanning bed or spray tan, Showing excellent cusotmer service skills.
Assistant Salon Director (Former Employee) – Winchester, KY – July 22, 2016
My experience with Sun Tan City was overall an amazing experience. The environment is very fun, fast paced, and enjoyable. We were taught to provide excellent customer service and keep the salon functioning as it should. Each day would consist of cleaning, paperwork, money handling skills, and continuously interacting with clients. As part of the management team I got the opportunity to get to know, and work with, each of our employees and help lead them throughout the day. We strived to keep our workplace calm and collected at all times, which made it easy for co-workers to get along and communicate properly. The most enjoyable part of the job for me was getting the opportunity to work with many different people and the daily interactions with our clients.
Tanning Consultant (Former Employee) – Iowa – May 22, 2016
It was great at first and then the management sucked! If you are not friends with the SD and ASD then you are pretty much screwed. The SD would tell everyone their phones had to stay in our lockers, but was ALWAYS on hers in the office. Never did anything to help out and is always sitting in the office doing absolutely nothing and than complains when her numbers aren't great. It is not professional what so ever.
Tanning Consultant (Current Employee) – Madison, WI – September 24, 2016
A great place to go if you want a job where you can dive deep into sales and meet some awesome people along the way. I have been here for two years and love how many people I have met and the money I have made.
Manager (Former Employee) – Lexington, KY – April 29, 2016
Loved the atmosphere when I worked there. However hours are more than 45 per week sometimes double but on annual pay so there isn't overtime. It's hard to get the district manager to approve any raises and it takes a long time to be offered advancement opportunities. The low pay does not make up for the long late hours.
Bed tech (Former Employee) – Johnson City, TN – April 27, 2016
a typical day at sun tan city was fairly busy. sometimes not even busy at all. Working at sun tan city i learned how to clean the beds and what beds to use depending how tan you wanted to get. my co workers were really nice and very passionate about what they do. the hardest part about this job was making sure all beds were clean at all times. the easiest part about the job was the laundry.
Key Holder/Sales Associate (Current Employee) – Rome, GA – September 29, 2016
I worked at 2 salons so far and have enjoyed my time in both! Great SD and DM, really help you feel like part of the team. Although the hours aren't always great they do give you plenty of opportunities to grow.
TANNING CONSULTANT (Current Employee) – Lincoln, NE – July 9, 2016
I have been working here for almost a year. There is little chance to move up in the company, and the vast majority of your commission made there is taken by the company. However, it is a very easy job and fun place to work.
Salon Director (Associate) (Current Employee) – Nashville, TN 37203 – March 23, 2016
Sun Tan City has given me many opportunities as a full time student and now college graduate. The environment is uplifting and competitive. They never shy away at an opportunity to promote within the company and give many chances to advance in the bounds of your personal and professional goals.
Key Holder and Tanning Consultant (Former Employee) – Richmond, KY – June 10, 2016
I enjoyed working here and I had a wonderful supervisor who was all there for her employees. Can be competitive when it comes to sales but sometime the supervisor would make it into a game which was a lot of fun.
Assistant Salon Director (ASD) (Former Employee) – Ashland, KY 41101 – February 15, 2016
