Good coworkers, enjoyable place to work at times
Disaster Recovery Specialist II (Former Employee), Carlstadt, NJ –
Pros: three day work week
Cons: being laid off
A typical work day consisted of receiving turnover from previous shift about. Check in with customer to inquiry if they need any assistance, some times I would get into work and then would go right into client's test area to assist. When not busy with customer test I would work on various projects assigned by manager.

I learned a great deal of things – more...  while working at Sungard, I learned how to build a Hardware Configuration Definition table. I also learned how to reconfigure a dasd box plus many other things.

Management was okay, they really did what they could for the Operations department but more could have been done.

My co-workers were really great to work with, they were very helpful when I needed assistance and very respectful. They were fun and very enjoyable to with.

The hardest part of the job was when we would call upper management and other support staff in the middle of the night due to critical customer issues and would not always get a prompt response.

The most enjoyable part of the job was helping people.. I really enjoyed helping the customer and knowing at the end of the day that I help to resolve technical issues with the customer's test and feeling that I did a good job. – less

Good place to work but good ole' boy networks exists
maintenance (Former Employee), philadelphia, pa –
Pros: solid company
Cons: management worries too much
Management was replaced with people who weren't quite from the same industry, so they didn't know how to react when things weren't going right. They were more concerned about your day to day work than the goal you're trying to achieve.

My Sungard experience
Data Communications Engineer (Former Employee), Carlstadt, NJ –
Sungard was a great place to work.I worked my way up form the mainframe opersations dept to the network dept.Management gave me this opportunity for which I was greatful.Sungard gave me the chance to learn new technology through available in house equipment and variuous technocal classes.
Everyday was a different challenge bringing new situations and – more...  meeting new people.Building new networks and interacting with our clients was always enjoyable.
I worked with a great crew. All of my coworkers were always helpful and the consumate team players. – less

Good benefits and pay however poor revenue and profit growth
General Manager (Current Employee), Malvern, PA –
It's a good place to work except the company is performing poorly financially. It's owned by private equity that tend not to make long term investments in companies.

Clanish... bad management under pressure
High Point, NC (Former Employee), Developer level 2 –
Pros: easy going if you can find a clan to your taste.
Cons: lots of infighting. hard to fit, without clan for protection.
Fairly easy job, not much expertise required, but management under so much pressure that nepotism hides behind "Team player" title. Nothing really new about that.

Otherwise a nice place to work. Many good people in one place.

Not too bad a place
Sr Telecommunications/Systeme Engineer (Former Employee) –
Cons: sometinme long hours
Was there for 15 years..can't be all that bad. Not much room for advancement however. DR side of the business seems to be waining, espically in the southeast (ATLANTA). Mostly Hosting and managed services.
