mama said if you don't have anything nice to say don't say it at all....
The Scioto Assisted Living Lead Care Manager (Former Employee), Columbus, OHApril 5, 2014
Pros: residents were great
Cons: long hours, no extra pay for it, ie : bonus or holiday pay worked all holidays low pay starting pay was 8.00 wow
A typical day at Sunrise I worked the 2pm-10pm shift I was a lead C.M, I worked SHORT with only 2 CM me and another Caremanager, there were days people would call off when it was pay day (it was pattern) I only called off when I was sick yet I still made it in, and they sent me home for I had fever!!! I would pull doubles, them knowing I have epilepsy, – more... I felt we were rushed all the time, ie: getting residents laundry done, to getting them upstairs for dinner, dinner out served then activity at 6 pm (dinner was at 5) there were nights when we had someone dying so that made it hard yet I had to check on the every hour instead of 2 hour checks. I know alot of CM were not checking q2hr or turning q2hr when noted by the doctor/verified by the nursed to us it's important to listen to those orders otherwise they have bad skin break down, which leads to open wounds, 1st, 2nd to 3rd stage then death, for they are not up walking around I've seen it happen more than once, not on my shift yet on oncoming and going shifts sad really. – less

Team Player Hard Worker Great Attitude
Assistant (Former Employee), West Hartford, CTMarch 18, 2014
Cons: hard work
I started out in the company as a certified nurses aide. My duties were to assist the patients with every day activities. I really enjoyed interacting with patients some were very sweet and some very tough but you learn not to take it personal. Also I was trained for the building to assist them with there medications which consist of making sure they – more... took the required dosage that was prepared by registered nursing staff. As time went on I would assist nursing staff on my down time with duties in the office. I did so well I was offered a job assisting the nursing staff. My duties consist of making sure all the patients charts were in compliance with the state, admitting and discharging patients basically any paperwork that was required. My job could get very stressful I was responsible for over 100 patients but I loved my job. – less

A great place for seniors to live the higest quality of life
Director of Sales (Current Employee), Stamford, CTMarch 8, 2014
Pros: free lunch. the amount of support that is available at all times.
At Sunrise Senior Living I am the Director of Sales. It is my responsibility to ensure that budgets are met on a weekly basis in regards to the numbers of occupants in the building. This is done by advancing sales with our current lead base and creating relationships with professionals to ensure referrals are being made to the community. I work directly – more... with the executive director and North East Regional team members in order to decrease any and all concerns that a new buyer may have regarding finances. Financial concerns of new buyers is the most difficult part of the job. I enjoy working with seniors and making the end of life for each person the highest quality of life it can be. – less

Assist with daily cares, house keeping, assisting with meals, life enrichment
Assisted Living Care Manager (Current Employee), Denver, COMarch 3, 2014
Pros: interactions with diverse people, challenging yet fun working environment, free breakfast
Cons: no advancement opportunities, having to work overnights
A typical day includes assisting residents to bed, morning cares such as showering and dressing, assisting residents to the restroom, assisting to and from meals and activities. Upkeep of rooms and facilities.
Learned how to work with diverse and often difficult clientele. Team-work skills.
Co-workers were a diverse background, and provided excellent – more... opportunities on how to work with people of a different background and differing cultures.
Most difficult aspect was working overnights.
Most enjoyable aspect was the knowledge of helping people in their daily lives and knowing that their lives were better off than before. – less

Fun and rewarding place to work
LVN Care manager (Current Employee), Beverly Hills, CAFebruary 26, 2014
Pros: one on one care, create bonds with the residents and their families, 3$ meals for employees.
Cons: can get a bit stressing when it is really busy.
I assist the elderly with activities of daily living. I reminisce with them on past life events, take care of them when they get sick and create a close relationship with them and their families. Do vital signs, first aid, incident reports as needed.

facilitated art group
Volunteer (Former Employee), Sacramento, CAFebruary 25, 2014
Pros: volunteer
Cons: no challenge
I worked within the activities department and sometimes with the Activities Coordinator. I was a self-starter but had a little help from the Activity Coordinator with facilitating a painting group with a few ladies that enjoyed painting as much as I did. I mainly worked on my own, socializing with residents including dementia residents. The hardest – more... part would be to persuade residents to participate sometimes. The most enjoyable was interacting with residents and participating in the activities with them. – less

Loving residents, evil staff, and managers
Caregiver (Former Employee), Johns Creek,GaFebruary 21, 2014
Pros: loving residents
Cons: management, staff, pay
A typical day of work: Arrive at 7am and they(managers) expect for you to have residents in dining room by 8am. And remember its 8-9 residents for 1person, wake up,change, etc. 10am all residents must be in room. Do showers, laundry, changing, etc. 11:30am start getting residents down for lunch at 12. You take resents down, take orders, serve, and clean – more... up dining room. 1:30 pm take resents back up, clean, change, check laundry. 2:30 do your last round. I learned how these seniors have so much to teach. Co-workers were horrible!!!! They verbally abused residents, didn't shower them(would write in the book that they didn't want a shower), would leave them wet and with feces. Once I spoke to upper management they didn't do anything, they got me out because a company doesn't like their dirty laundry out. assisted living coordinator had "hot spots" because families would pay her under the table to take "extra care" of certain residents. Hardest part of the job: they want you to do everything in that 8hour period, no break nothing. Kitchen would run out of food and serve the same thing 2x a week. Residents were so loving and caring. kitchen staff were rude and unprofessional. PLEASE I BEG YOU DO NOT TAKE YOUR FAMILY TO SUNRISE OF JOHNS CREEK!!!!!!! – less
