METALLOGRAPHIC LAB TECHNICIAN, Quality Control
Individual will perform all aspects of metallurgical sectioning, mounting, polishing, etching and inspection required by specification and/or internal routings. Maintain all equipment, supplies and support necessary to perform the metallurgical testing process in an acceptable timeframe. Identify and act upon areas of needed improvement. Assist with all other quality functions by teaming up with other employees.
- Perform daily destructive testing of threaded components using the metallographic lab and prepare any testing related reports or records that may be needed.
- Perform all tasks needed for the preparation and examination of micro/macro thread test specimens to ensure compliance with appropriate Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions and customer related specifications. Includes but not limited to the following:
Cut metal part samples on abrasive saw
Mount cross-section in phenolic materials using the mounting machine
Grind and polish mounts with the lab equipment
Etch mounts with acids and,
Inspect for defects under microscope.
Read, understand and interpret specifications for destructive testing.
