GIS Technician, Photogrammetry (Former Employee) –  Austin, TXJanuary 20, 2017
Lots of room to move up. Pay is on the lower end of the scale. Good benefits. Lots of TxDOT contract work, so work flow can slow down when economy slows.
Pros
Growth
Cons
pay scale

Too many chief's. Indians get let-go.
Party chief (Former Employee) –  Austin, TXNovember 28, 2016
Moved to Austin for what was to be a great job. Found out that if you don't have family in upper management you are only a #. If you have family in management your job is to complain about your co-workers. You can make some $ if you keep your mouth shut but, it will only last a short time. Then you will understand why there is always an ad looking for new help. Don't make the same mistake I and so many others have made.
Pros
Good pay & great ben's.
Cons
Expected to work like a dog and treated the same.

You Have Better Options
Employee (Current Employee) –  Midland, TXAugust 19, 2016
Externally, the company would seem pretty buttoned up; internally, however, this place is a mess. HR has no clue--they have a double standard in that they tell you what you can't do, but turn around and break the rules they establish for everyone else. The Midland GM is close-minded and is untrustworthy. If you are in the surveying industry, you really do have better options than this broken organization.

Fun and comfortable environment
Senior Survey Tech (Former Employee) –  Austin, TXMarch 26, 2015
For the most part I enjoyed working at SAM, LLC. It was a very fast paced environment. Not much was provided in the way of training. If training was provided, it was secondary to the job. There was a lot of opportunities for advanced jobs, but not allowed to learn on company time such as OJT. Most co-workers were a pleasure to work with while others were more unapproachable if you did not have the knowledge that they had.
