Productive, sometimes hectic days
Customer Service Representative (Current Employee), Kingston – May 20, 2013
Pros: performance based incentives
Cons: short breaks
A great environment to facilitate growth & development in customer service.
A typical day at work starts on average 9:00am. I log into the system, get prepared for my calls & just do my work to the best of my knowledge to assist my customers.

The management team is great and motivational.

My co-workers are helpful, enthusiastic & motivational.

The – more... hardest part of my job is dealing with difficult phone calls, but i always try to find the best solution for the customers.

The most enjoyable part of the day is hearing the customer i have helped come off the phone sounding happy & satisfied. – less

Team Leader (Former Employee), Rochester, NY – May 6, 2013
Pros: employee awards
I started as a Representative on the phone, providing customer support. working with my manager and getting extra help i was promoted to a team Lead. my daily duties were to make sure my team has everything they need to learn, i was also coaching them on how to pitch sales. i love taking charge and teaching my co workers some that has helped me.

A place to get a good start
an inbound sales representative. (Former Employee), Jefferson road location. – April 28, 2013
Pros: anyone can get hired.
Cons: not everyone makes through their rigorous turn over period.
Overall needs to be a bit more professional and a lot more consistent and clear on what the goals are of the companies they work for.

Fun place to advance to higher management
Customer Service Rep/ Technical Support (Former Employee), Syracuse, NY – April 23, 2013
Pros: good pay
Cons: short breaks
easiest part of the job would be that you get to make customers happy our motto was " fake it until you make it "
you resolve customers issues, in a timely manner, check bills, expalin bills and go over unjustly charges.

I learned a lot.I would have like to learn more. I worked long hard hours on a 6 day schedule. I like working with the customers and making them happy. I loved resolving their programs and making them free comfortable about their taxes being done right. i loved the team I was on and the supervisor who helped me out a whole lot about taxes.

Excellent firm yet poor upper management decisions
Team Manager (Former Employee), Barranquilla, Colombia SA – March 28, 2013
Pros: high energy environment with consistantly new challenges
Cons: poor corp management
I went to Barranquilla, Colombia seven years ago to open an international office for Morgan Thaxton Group (Executive Recruiting Firm). After many of our Wall Street clients dissapeared I found myself in South America without work. The only work for a Gringo in Barranquilla is Call Centers. I joined Sutherland's AT&T Mobility campaign as a customer service – more... agent and was quickly advanced to a Team Leader position. As Team Leader my responsibility was to coach 17 agents on quality assurance and metrics primarily.I was also reponsible for taking over call that agents could not resolve. Working 11 hrs a day, six days a week at South American wages prompted me to return to the US for work. – less

Flexible work hours but high turn over rates
Sales Representative (Former Employee), Rochester, NY – March 19, 2013
Pros: great incentives
Cons: transfer numbers incorrect and not enough trained management
can be very slow long days or very fast pace.
I've learned how to work using multiple screens and research consumer based info using google search.
Management was not trained well and due to the high turn over ..fairly impersonal and strained as far as the manager vs. rep ratio.
co-workers varied often
The hardest part was the ever changing high demand – more... goals with new programs and customers being vary irrate because they werent handled accordingly at intial processing or being trransfered to the wrong department. – less

Very Stressful
Frontline Underwriter (Current Employee), Houston, TX – March 10, 2013
Pros: co-workers
This has been one of the hardest places I've ever worked. Management is unstable and lacking in direction. I have no clue from one day to another what is expected from me or what my management is going to do for me. The stress level is higher than needed and caused by upper management.

Relaxing workplace, nice break room with pool table and vending machines
Support Tech/Phone (Former Employee), Syracuse, NY – March 6, 2013
Pros: decent pay
Cons: bad shift times. no family time
Employees are not treated as equally as I would like. Seniority plays no role in advancement. Much too high of a turn-over rate

Customer service Rep (Former Employee), Syracuse, NY – December 27, 2012
Sutherland really destroyed me. They let me go over extenuating surcumstances and would not allow me to dispute it.

It's what you make of it.
Customer service/sales rep/ Floor Support (Former Employee), Rochester, NY – December 19, 2012
Pros: commission, overtime
Cons: not flexible, no job security
Sutherland can be a great place to work or it can be hell on earth. I personally enjoy that environment but it is not for all. The pay is okay but if you get into a program that offers overtime and/or commission you could make some serious bank.

Not a very honest company overall not a great experience from my time working there.
Customer Service Representative (Former Employee), Rochester Tech Park – December 12, 2012
Pros: customer service interacting with customers daily.
Cons: no base commission or integrity from managers.
During my time there i have learned how to interact more with customers and solve issues and needs. coworkers were great, management wasn't honest nor hands on. The hardest part of the day is not being properly equipped for the situations that needed to be taking care of.

Very Good Place to Work. Family Friendly
Accounting Assistant II (Former Employee), Tulsa, OK 74133 – November 29, 2012
Pros: the longer you are there the more pto you have and the lower your medical ins is.
Cons: it is an outsourcing company, so when you lose a contract you are out of a job.
Working with Sutherland Global is Family Friendly. They reward you in many ways. i.e. the longer you are there the cheaper your medical insurance is. You have PTO and sick days added together so it seems like a lot of days off. HR takes the time to listen to you and they deal with whatever the situation is. Job security is not the best since we do outsourcing – more... (that is why I am out of a job. We lost a contract). – less
