About SYCUAN CASINO
Sycuan provides for the safety and welfare of its tribal residents and patrons of tribal businesses, including the casino through operating its own Tribal Police Department. The department enforces tribal ordinances and state law and works with other law enforcement agencies to maintain a safe environment on the Sycuan Reservation.
Chief William Denke – more... oversees an experienced staff of 18 full-time officers. Tribal Police officers patrol the reservation and respond to calls for service 7 days a week 24 hours a day. A tribal check point was established for those wishing to enter the business and residential areas of the reservation. Persons wanting to visit the business offices and/or tribal residents must check-in before entering. It is manned by a Public Safety Officer 24 hours a day.
The Tribal Police Department has a good rapport with outside law enforcement agencies. We assist in providing additional coverage to them while on calls for service to include, traffic control off the reservation, arrest situations, and handling persons in-custody. During the fires in 2003, we assisted the California Highway Patrol by controlling the traffic in the surrounding areas of the reservation to ensure a safe route from danger zones and assisted the San Diego Sheriff's Department in Harbison Canyon by providing extra patrol in order to deter looting.
Tribal Police reports directly to the Sycuan tribal government and is independent from the Sycuan Gaming Center and other tribal enterprises.
