Very few have a future here
UA Agent (Former Employee) –  Orono, MEFebruary 21, 2016
Great company initially, very flexible, very nice people to work with, and management is seemingly professional, but after a while it starts to show why there is such a high turnover rate. Just an insincere regard to employee wages, benefits, and schedule flexibility. Many are forced to work holidays, and some policies are shady to say the least. I was fortunate enough to have escaped this, but was witness to employees losing commission pay over minor discrepancies, as well as a blatant disregard for true customer services as reps are forced to read scrips irrelevant to customer concerns.
Pros
clean facilities, some very nice people to work with
Cons
shady policies, high turnover, disregard for customers and employees well-being

Synapse was a great company in the beginning but the Time acquisition changed things
ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR (Former Employee) –  Stamford, CTJune 8, 2015
With the Time acquisition of Synapse the culture was changed. Where once you were allowed, and expected, to think outside the box it was now conformity that ruled.
Pros
Free Lunches

Great people, laid back environment
Marketing Manager (Former Employee) –  Stamford, CTMay 4, 2015
Synapse is a great place to work and there are a lot of really smart people that understand the entire business, not just their role. The culture is very important here and the management works hard to make it an enjoyable environment. Free catered lunch everyday. The current state of the magazine industry/Time Inc. has forced management to scale back on some things, but Synapse appears to be in a better position than its parent company (for now).

One major problem of note is that the culture is laid back to the point where there isn't a solid decision-making hierarchy other than the handful of members on the senior management team. Everyone gets involved in all of the decisions, and everyone has an opinion about something; "lots of cooks in the kitchen". As a result of this, people will sometimes choose not to share information as a way to prevent things from getting hung up and not moving forward.
Pros
Great work/life balance, good people, free lunch
Cons
Fundamental communication issues throughout the company

A great place to work
Front End Web Developer (Current Employee) –  Stamford, CTApril 13, 2013
I have learned a tremendous amount from working here and enjoy my work environment.

I am responsible for building transactional websites using front end technologies. My work day is split between building and deploying websites and reporting on website performance.

My direct management is easy to work with and helpful.

There are many challenges with the job, but I would not describe themas "difficult," but rather learning experiences.

I enjoy learning new technologies and means to accomplish tasks.

Management could be improved upon
Executive Assistant (Former Employee) –  Stamford, CTFebruary 26, 2013
Very busy, fast paced, typical day of work was working on numerous Marketing projects, management was not helpful in taking time to get you up to speed, or explaining reasons/background for projects. Left it hard to figure out.
