Executive Assistant (Former Employee), Research Triangle Park, NCAugust 28, 2012
Pros: flexible work environment
Cons: lack of diversity and upward mobility
Syngenta overall is a great organization. However, there are some issues with diversity and silos within ethnic groups. There is lots of productive work to keep employees busy. They foster an environment of continuing education through the Syngenta Learning Academy. The hardest part of the job is the lack of a diverse work force and inability to grow. They offer no career path progression. The most enjoyable part of the job is the way the Employee Relations Committee sponsors events to bring employees together.

Bureaucratic, Disorganized, and Mediocre
Project Manager (Former Employee), Research Triangle Park, NCAugust 10, 2012
Syngenta Seeds is an interesting organization and for some it could be a great place to work. However, if you are a motivated, high integrity individual this may not be the place for you.

Syngenta is a very bureaucratic organization which isn't surprising given it's Swiss roots. However, many individuals in the trenches simply don't know how to advance efforts through the bureaucracy which greatly stifles progress. For those individuals that have learned to manage the bureaucracy they have largely become so politically entrenched and motivated that they represent obstacles as they are focused on their personal agendas.

In the end the culture, while cozy, is simply frustrating.

Excellent Benefits, Compensation, Extremely long hours
Master Data Requester (Former Employee), Minnetonka, MNApril 22, 2012
Pros: compensation, benefits, pension plan, profit sharing
Cons: extremely long hours
Beautiful new state of the art building, excellent benefits and compensations but.... With the ability to work remotely, from anywhere came the expectation that one would work until the job was done no matter what the hour, day of week or holiday. Whether on vacation or not. If you have that kind of time then the compensation and benefits are worth it. Stressful and demanding but the site is beautiful and has a cafe, gym, walking trails, fire places, flat screen televisions, parking ramp, on site clinic, mother's room, free expresso and coffee machines. Company also offers pension plan and profit sharing.

Good compensation but too many processes to follow. People are generally knowledgeable and easy to deal with. Spends lot of money on system and control.

Pros: in every officials meeting the company arranges good lunch to co-employers.
Cons: some meetings and transplanting hours.
i worked in syngenta as mdo(marketing development officer) to the kodad mandal.my co-workers are good communicated and well received.hardest part of the job is transplanting because in this operation we should face some problems from farmers.the enjoyable part of the job is from after transplanting to before harvesting by receiving their feedback day by day.i learned more practical information from farmers which is not teach in my class room during my graduation period.

Very nice and challenging work place
Finance Analyst (Former Employee), Bucuresti, IFOctober 12, 2014
As a finance analyst at Syngenta, I was directly involved into business, working closely with all departments, analyzing function costs, the sales on all crops and plant protection materials, managing and comment the downsides and upsides.I was very close with my colleagues from finance - territory level (South East Europe), sending weekly and monthly reports about the financial activity from Romania and Moldova. I learned how to analyze variances, how to transpose into words what I am seeing in figures, I learned to pay attention to details, to be flexible, quick to pick up new skills and eager to learn from others. I like to have lots of ideas and enthusiasm and to be efficient at work.

Depends a lot on your own drive
Demand Manager (Current Employee), baselJune 24, 2014
Pros: absolute respect for work/life balance, space to grow, growing industry
Cons: very good market but the company is not capturing 100% the potential
Even though some of the legacy companies of Syngenta are more than 100 old, Syngenta itself is still forming.
Its a very good place to work if you are proactive, self directed and can handle uncertainty.
This is because too much of the organizational structure and accountabilities are not 100% clear and it relies a lot in individuals and informal relationships.
This means that if you are proactive, you will find a huge space for development. however if you struggle to cope with this type of environment, you will find your way difficult.
Its a company full of opportunities and challenges.
