Prior experience in the bus industry is strongly preferred.
Manages and directs the safety training function, communicates with drivers and
staff as necessary regarding prevention of accidents, compliance issues and performance.
Investigates accidents for cause and prevention, reviews all accident reports for document
completeness, analyzes photographs and videos as available, participates in accident reconstruction as needed and interacts with insurance company representatives to ensure that accident/injury claims are handled promptly and professionally. Prepares monthly accident summary/statistics for further action.
Participates in the new driver candidate interview process and provides feedback to the Transportation Manager and Human Resources Manager regarding the selection of candidates. Conducts candidate road tests as necessary to satisfy skill set requirements.
Schedules and participates, as necessary, periodic safety meetings with drivers and other employees.
Interacts with Security Manager and Vice President of Maintenance as needed regarding Safety related matters.
Audits driver road performance, appearance, customer service skills, schedule compliance by road
observations, etc. Utilizes company provided monitoring equipment to assist in this process.
Participates in discipline process and assists as required in grievance meetings.
Performs various assignments/projects as assigned by Executive Management.
High School / GED
Minimum 7+ years experience in Transportation Field
3 - 5 years experience in similar Safety Management role within transportation industry
Knowledge of Federal and State compliance regulations
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
