Asst Dir of housekeeping, - September 30, 2011
The Talbott is a lovely hotel and holds an outstanding opportunity for those who are looking to begin a career in boutique luxury hotels-all or some. However, I was very disappointed to work with a fragile, inexperienced and dishonest Asst. General Manager as well as a bullying Director of H.R. This was the first experience I've ever had when one person held absolute power over a company. The Dir. of Human Resources was the only person inside the operation of the office-judge, jury-decision maker. That's not a fair or balanced way to conduct any business. Although the property lives up to it's tax-break quota by hiring through some community services for the city, it does absolutely nothing to encourage better race relations or action plans for growth. It's a hostile work environment that turned out to be one of the most depressing situations that I've ever experienced. Although, I love customer service and hotel work Talbott proved that one must choose wisely where they can grow.
