Ive been a 4am Flow team member for almost nine months now, I have been actively searching for a better job in my trade but regardless of what you hear on TV, its still rough out there. This is a warning for you, if you are a hard worker, you will be exploited to do the work of 3 people and get zero compensation whatsoever, maybe a little pat on the back. You will meet some cool people and the job itself is hardwork
-Pay is terrible for a Team member / Team lead. If your competent and the TLs like you, getting 36-40 hours a week most of the time shouldn't be an issue. BUT the starting wage is 9.75, and it actually drops to 8.75 after 8am when the store opens. Dont be fooled this is NOT a nice cushy stand around job. You are constantly lifting, moving, walking from 4-8, including a lot of heavier bulk freight. The starting wage for a Flow member should be minimum 11/ hr. You will be lucky to clear 570-600 EVERY 2 WEEKS. Not a livable wage if you have rent / car / loans etc. Overtime doesnt exist, you will actually get in trouble for even being 1/2 hour over your 40 so dont ask. You are getting paid the same as Cashiers
-Advancement haha, Target does not want to promote TMs to high positions. They recruit college grads with no experience whatsoever for their exec jobs. Maybe you can get a TL job, but your looking at maybe a dollar more and truck loads of added stress, it isn't worth it believe me.
-Incompetence and picking up lazy peoples work loads. Target has a very lax policy when it comes to firing people. If you play your cards right, it would seem you could call out once a week and be fine. Our team constantly has 2-3 people not show up on trucks, putting ridiculous added strain on the reliable people.
-Raises are once a year and even if you show up every day, work you ass off, get the highest grade they can give you on your review, it will NOT exceed a dollar. Raises are a store political game, every store gets X amount of money.

I was hired a few months back at Target. I was on the Logistics team.
I turned down an interview at another company ( mistake )for Target as well.
The company looks nice, acts nice but they do not care for their workers.
They will go through people without a second thought and Hire you based on a lie.
target has a "90 day" policy that pretty much gives them the power to hire anyone,
use them and get rid of them no questions asked. You will not know until the end of your shift
and boom they get rid of you.
If your lucky you will get maybe 8 hours a week for 3+weeks training period. Pay is every 2 weeks.
But now to my story. I was hired as night shift stock. So I was pretty much there at the store
from 3am-12 or 1pm the next day. I was extremely excited and rather eager to work for Target. I showed up 15 mins early everyday. Always dressed correctly and had no problem staying after work if they needed
more help. I never called out, never missed a shift. I was a College student at the same time and did just fine. I was eager to move up to other positions as well.
If me and my partner had 3 hours to complete a section, we would get it done in half the time. While the other team members were busy talking and goofing I was working. I would rearrange and restock the shelves to get things to fit while others just left them around. if I found an error I would fix it.
I made sells during the morning and helped out greatly ( though I never went around bragging). I was the Guy who did his job no matter who was looking.
Well anyways right near the end of my 90 days after being told plenty of times how great a worker I was and so forth they just fired me. They hired seasonal workers, trained them then let me go at the end of my 90 day period. Target was behind during the back to school season, they hired me and 2 others passed their inspection, trained seasonal and then got rid of us. They never hired us saying that we were Temps.

What are the average starting salaries, bonuses, benefits and travel requirements like at Target?
What do you like best about working at Target? Are there any great perks or special treats for employees?

This might sound weird, but my dream job is to be a Store Manager at Target. No joke. I always thought of being a manager as a kid, and I still do.
With that said, I have applied to over 50 Target ETL opportunities over the past year, and the site keeps rejecting me! Its very disconcerting. Its what I want to do and I can't do it :(
Every time I submit an application on the site, it gets rejected within several weeks. I always get that dreaded "Your status has been updated!" email. Sounds amazing. Then I click. Sadface. :( :(
I am a graduate at University at Buffalo with a BS in Business and BA in Economics, have several internships, and 6 months experience at a Marketing position. So I think my qualifications should be OK at least.
I did interview for an ETL last year. Drove 400 miles right after Sandy and a fuel shortage, paid $200 in expenses, and didnt get through the first 1 hr interview because I used too many "We" examples.
The ETL who interviewed me said I should re-apply in a couple months....its been over a year, and the site now doesnt like me!
Tried going to the stores, and they said the hiring is done in the central office in NYC. I think its the one called Target Sourcing Services on 100 Fashion Ave, but I think that's their distribution arm...not their hiring. Maybe it is?
Anyone know a way to contact SOMEONE so I at least get another shot with a human? I really want to do this! Thanks!

It's always hard to know what to expect when going in for that interview -- and preparation can make all the difference. What is the interview process like at Target?
Any advice on striking the right note?

I just got a call from Target and they scheduled a phone interview later today for a Sales Floor position.
Has anyone else been through this process? What kind of questions can I expect? Any tips?

Do you work at Target? How did you find the job? How did you get that first interview?
Any advice for someone trying to get in?

do you think target is going to hire you just because you have no job experience
what they mean by "qualified" person is where you dont ask for raise
they want you to work with little hours so they dont lose money

Use to be a great company to work for about 5 years ago. Now it is the company to stay away from.
